Kotaku found some cool NES watches from the 80’s. I think I had the Donkey Kong one…either that or I played on once. Good for a little fun, but no replacement for a Game Boy.

Well, we all know that Nintendo didnt reveal the Revolution controller. We also know that the controller will be the aspect of the system that will be the revolutionary. Since we have no clue what it is, its time for some more speculation! Yeah!
First, check out this new technology that could also be used in video games in the future:
Revolution? Well, that would certainly be an interesting, hands free controller. We also have another user submitted theory just for fun. Dark Wario compiled a bunch of the theories on the controller (touch screen, ability to play back catalogue of games and portability/connectivity) and made a theory. What, no gyros?

The next generation is almost upon us. With that in mind, the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shinbun asked the top dogs at Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft about the competition.
The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shinbun’s Friday edition featured an article with comments taken from the heads of the three console makers: Microsoft senior vice president and chief Xbox officer Robert J. Bach, Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi, and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. All three contenders talked about the strategies behind their own consoles and tossed harsh words over the corporate walls toward each other.

The japanese pages for Nintendo’s English-Japanese Dictionary for the DS and Chibi Robo for the GC are now up. They both appear to have just been added, so there’s not much information on either. Keep checking em for more info!

UPDATE: Just cruising around the NOJ site and found a few more interesting mini-sites. Metroid Prime 2 only recently was released there and fortunately its doing pretty well. Thats very good, since the first Metroid Prime sold very poorly in Japan.

[ WP v 1.5.2 ]
Woo. That was fun.
Ive been having a lot of problems with my databases lately. I think it was because of WordPress. Well, Ive upgraded WP and everything should be fine now. *crosses fingers*
The Forums are back up as well. Yeah!
I did lose comments on the last few posts. I am especially sad about any that disappeared on the ‘Gamers, Who Are You?‘ thread. I know a lot of you blogged your answers else where. If you can, link back to those in the comment section. They were all such great reads.

[How the name came to be and what it means today]

Since the birth of this site as a video game resource, Ive asked myself what ‘4 color rebellion’ means. You see, originally the site was a comic book site. Or, it was going to be.
Comics are commonly referred to as 4-color books. This is because of the printing process used to print comics, or any printed media for that matter. Almost all printed media is made by combining Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black; CMYK. There are exceptions, but we won’t get into that.
So, this site started off as a way to sound off about the comic book industry. It’s a beautiful industry with such a low cost of entry and such potential for creativity and exposure. That’s where the rebellion part came in. I was out to inform and change the way the industry worked and open peoples eyes to the possibilities of the medium. However, things got jumbled and contributors dropped out. So, since I had already paid for the domain, I just started blogging about Nintendo and here we are today.
Since that time I’ve often asked myself, how does the title ‘4 color rebellion’ relate to gaming. I try to bring in other elements to the site, like comics, movies and advertising, but it’s primarily turned into a Nintendo related site. Which is fine, since Nintendo is my most passionate entertainment love.
So, with all of that, what does the site name mean? Well, I look at it many different ways. For one, since we are primarily talking about media that is brought to us on television or the computer monitor, we have escaped the 4 color limitation. A virtually endless number of colors can be used when displaying games. The rebellion issue comes into play in that I hope that I create a positive uprising against biased and ignorant gaming coverage.
Another way I look at it is that ‘4 color rebellion’ stands as a blanket statement about media. Let us rebel at shoddy entertainment and advertising. Let our voices be heard about what we want, not want they think we want. Let us, the consumer, have the power to influence the products we buy. Let us inspire intelligent and heartfelt decisions about how our entertainment is executed and presented.
The final way that I look at it is in a way I would have never thought before I got all of you as readers. This site has become much more than just a Nintendo news site for me. It has become a community. A source of intelligent and passionate discussion of things I love. A place where I can talk with my friends and make many new ones.
The rebellion is here. It’s about making connections. It’s about jumping out of the boxes marketers and schemers try to put on us. It’s in finding a common ground and reveling in that. Becoming friends. Making observations and changes to the way society hears us, subjugates us, caters to us and ultimately entertains us.

A few people over at GAF have gotten their hands on Bomberman DS. Since this game will not have Wifi, I was thinking about just passing it up. The impressions of the game are pretty good though! Plus, there is 8 player, single card multiplayer…and if you dont have any friends, you can have 7 bots!
We will get Wifi play with the sequel (yes, its already been announced) but I may have to break down and get this one anyway.
Check out the official site:

Whenever talking about games with someone who is a ‘mainstream’ gamer, the question always comes up, ‘What kind of games do you like?’ or ‘What do you play?.’ This question is always impossibly hard for me… simply because my tastes are so diversified.
This brings up interesting questions for someone who calls themselves a ‘gamer.’
Who are you as a gamer?
What makes a game amazing for you?
What makes a game subpar for you?
What initially attracts you to a game?
Why don’t you play certain genres?
What companies define you as a gamer?
Comment away, and let 4cr know what kind of a gamer you are.
