Super Mario Bros 3

Here are a few links of Mario related things out there. While they certainly arent all pro Mario, most of them are pretty funny.

In an recent interview Ken Toyota, Nintendo Chief of Public Relations talked a little bit about the Revolution, among other things.

Toyota had this to say, “E3 will be the starting point for the Revolution. [We haven’t decided] whether we will show the real machine, videos, or unveil the concept. … We want to receive some level of evaluation, but releasing too much information is also another issue. We don’t have the slightest intention of making a machine that follows the same path as conventional game hardware. Right now, we are thinking of how we can accurately convey to people at E3 the different path that the Revolution will take and how it will change the way that games will be enjoyed.”

Come on Nintendo, show us some love at E3!

Mistwalker SRPG

Here is the first bit of art from the SRPG that Mistwalker is bringing to the DS. Check it this scan from Famitsu. Looks kinda like Tactics Ogre to me.

This is probably fake, but also probably not very far from the truth. Its the rantings of a supposed screenwriter for ‘Alone in the Dark.’

A lot of times bad movies get blamed on the screenwriters, but often times the director, in congunction with an editor, are the real culprits. Its a funny, if not entirely true, article.

Daredevil

Well, after almost four years and a great run, Bendis and Maleev are hanging up the devil costume. Im sad to hear this, as under Bendis’s command Daredevil has been one of the best comics in recent times.

I know that Bendis and Maleev with be great at whatever they take on next. Cant wait to see what it is, but I wonder who is taking over Daredevil now?

And if youve never read any of Bendis’s DD’s, you can easily find trade paper backs of all of his story arc in comic book stores our online. Truly a great, intelligent and well drawn book.

PSP

Damn…$250 for the system and $50 for most games!

With this pricing Sony is officially going for a much older audience with a fatter wallet. Im not going to say it wont work for them, but its certainly a nice break for the DS. Once we get the second generation titles for the DS there wont be enough of a difference to warrant that kind of price jump.

Im sure that all of the major gaming media will shrug this off though. The PSP can do no wrong in their eyes and it is truly the next evolution in portable gaming.

Bah. Enjoy your all-in-one media player and the free Spider-Man 2 UMD. Ill be over here watching Spider-Man 2 on my big screen tv and playing innovative games on my DS.

Superman

So now that Bryan Singer is directing the new Superman movie Im betting we will get a pretty good movie. Now that EA is making a game based on the movie Im betting we will get yet another crappy Superman game. Hooray for us.

In better news, Batman: The Animated Series Vol 2 DVD and Superman Vol 1 DVD have both been released. Go pick them up now, both are awesome!

Anything and everything concerning Pikmin is great in my book, including pencil lead caps. Sometimes I wish I lived in Japan so I could get crazy game stuff like this.

Wow, if this is real, then its really cool. Its a French video of a guy demonstrating a virtual game interacting with a real environment. Im not sure how totally applicable this would be other than a simple EyeToy type of thing though. Still it would be cool to setup army men, or pretend like you are swinging Link’s sword.

The video is in realplayer format, so if you dont want to install realplayer (which, trust me, you dont) download the K-Lite codec pack here: Codec

Wrist Band

Here is another bit of Nintendo memorabilia I have lying around. Yes, I actually wear these. Im that cool.

One day I went to the mall with my girlfriend for whatever reason and to my good fortune, there was a Nintendo SUV inside the mall. It had 4 Gamecubes in it with tv’s in the head rests of the chairs and in the dash. There were Nintendo reps walking around with GBA’s for people to demo and they had a huge screen in the trunk that was playing F-Zero while I was there. The whole thing was awesome and it was a great thing to stumble upon. Maybe I should join the Nintendo Street Team so I can cruise around in style!

Im currently doing an ad campaign at school for Harley. I mentioned this to my dad over lunch and he suggested we stop by the Harley dealer right down the road. Well, Mr. Impulsive decided that since he sold his BMW bike a couple of months ago, he needed a new one. Well, sounds good to me, as Ill get to ride it.

I never really thought of Harley as making good bikes, but after learning about this machine and seeing it in action I have a new viewpoint on Harley.

Fox Parody

Unfortunately reports are coming in that, while decent, StarFox Assualt isnt great. Its the ‘on foot’ missions that are bringing the game down. Anyway, Game Informer’s Billy Berghammer wrote a funny little letter in the voice of Fox to General Pepper. Youve got to read this, its hilarious.

Ken Lobb, an old NOA producer and now Microsoft employee, speaks about the state of the Xbox. He also talks about the competition (ie Nintendo and Sony) and its at least interesting to hear what he has to say considering he was so deep in Nintendo awhile ago. Check it out.

And if you didnt know, Lobb was the man dealing with Rare back in the Killer Instinct and GoldenEye days. Remember the the KLobb gun in Goldeneye?

[Now Hoping| My Cable Gets Turned Back On Soon]

Rumors are rampant that in next weeks Famitsu Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man behind Final Fantasy, will release details on an RPG for the DS. If this is true it would be very big news. Nintendo hasnt had a huge level of RPG love lately, but with the DS that seems to be turning around.

UPDATE: Well, it looks like this has been confirmed. The simulation RPG will be a “playable experiment” of 4-5 players. Hideo Minaba, who also worked on the Final Fantasy series, is said to be responsible for the art direction of the game.

I cant wait to see some screen shots of this.

Not only is this a great article about life as an older gamer, but also about life as a female gamer. I still havent reached the point where I get dirty looks in stores, but thats only because Im a 24 year old male who looks 18. Haha. Well, my little brother thinks its weird that Im a bigger gamer than all of his friends. My girlfriend doesnt seem to care though, so luckily I dont have to fight that battle.
