Today I stopped by Best Buy to get my copy of Minish Cap because my brother told me about a deal they have to save $5 on any game.

What you do is go there and find a video game gift card. I saw ones specifically for Xbox and PS2 and then a general game one. The gift card has a coupon with it for $5 off any game software or accesory over $19.99. So, I bought the gift card and put $10 dollars on it. Then I checked out again, used the gift card and the coupon for $15 towards the game and paid the rest in cash.

So, you basically save the cost of tax. Plus, if you go somewhere like GameStop they want $34.99 for the game, but at Best Buy its $29.99. Also, they have Advance Wars 2 for $10. Good deal and certainly worth it.

Anyway, Im only about thirty minutes into Minish Cap, but the whole presentation is amazing! I am totally blown away. There have also been a lot of cameos from other Zelda games already. Ill defintely be playing this as much as possible and Ill write up a little review soon.

Here are some videos and screen caps from the World Hobby Fair in Japan. This is the first time we have seen Jump Super Stars in action. While not the most exciting video, it demos how to play and how to switch characters. Yup, it looks like a crazy manga version of Smash Bros. to me.

Check out the Homeland and Starfox videos too. Im not sure if Homeland will ever make it over to the US, but it looks cool. It has an Animal Crossing feel to it and you are supposed to be able to set up your own server and people can join your game online.

Jungle Beat Box

With a little over two months to go here is the US box art. Not too bad. Not as clean as the Japanese one, but better than I was expecting. You will be able to buy the game with bongos for $59 and without for $39. Good thing, since I should get my second set of bongos tomorrow.

Fantastic Four #001

Well, its back. I went to the comic book store today because I havent been there in two months. As soon as I got there I felt the itch coming on. I guess its good to take a break from comics now and then. When you get too involved you just start picking up issues because they are hyped up.

I grabbed the newest Queen & Country, Fables, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and Astonishing X-Men. I also got the newest Contrete which is awesome. Im very glad that Chadwick is back and working on Concrete. He did a few fill in issues here and there lately, but I wasnt impressed. Now that he has brought Contrete back I couldnt be happier.

I also saw a few comics that looked sweet, but I decided to read some reviews before I picked them up. Hey, $3 a pop can add up fast. Anyway, once I finish reading this batch Im going to put up a little mini-review of the weeks comics. I think Ill try to make it a regular thing.

Here are some new pics of ‘Another.’ I havent heard anything about a US release, but I really hope it comes over. It reminds me of the old Sierra or LucasArts games. Speaking of, how cool would it be to have Grim Fandango, Sam & Max or Monkey Island on the DS? Someone should start a petition (even though LucasArts dropped all Gamecube support).

Super Punch-Out!!!

The latest rumor flying around the net (besides the Halo on Gizmondo) is that Super Punch-Out!!! will be an unlockable in EA’s Fight Night Round 2. Damnit Nintendo, why must you try to make me like EA? First Mario in NBA Street v3 (alright, so I enjoyed Street v2) and now this? I like to make blanket statements and stick to them!

Let me make myself clear, EA makes some good games (and publishes a lot of them too) but their business practices are hurting the industry. If they keep up with this level of greed it can only be a bad thing.

Anyway, this is pretty cool if true. However, if this is the case it will be more like Fight Night is a bonus included with Punch-Out, haha. Nah, Im sure Fight Night is good. I enjoyed Knockout Kings and Fight Night has gotten rave reviews.

RE Cosplay
(These people are excited)

Well, its here. Everyone and their mother has been waiting for this game. So, what are you waiting for, go get it.

For the last few weeks anytime I go into a gaming store (or even Target) I hear people talking about this game. However, they all keep saying “Well, its coming out for PS2 soon, so dont even bother with the Gamecube. Its doomed.” HELLO….people, thats a year away. Sorry that the misinformed employees at Gamestop have you thinking its coming out in a month. Boy, Im glad that the people who are supposed to inform the public about games are so retarded. Whatever.

Also, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT see Resident Evil Apocalypse. It is horrible! I saw the first one and kind of liked it. Hell, it made me go out and purchase RE 0 and 1 for the Cube. I read that Jovovich wasnt going to sign on for a second one unless the script was better. Um….what the hell happened. This is the worst piece of crap Ive ever seen. Blah, stay far far away.

Anyway, Im not going to run out and get this game just yet. I really wasnt even planning on getting it at all, but all of the wonderful reviews have changed my mind. So, Ill probably pick it up when I get my next paycheck. Actually, now that I think about it, Im pretty excited for this game now. Shooting insane people and fighting giant monsters? Yup, sounds good.

2004 Year in Review: Part Two

Ladies Love Gamecube

2004 was quite a year for gaming. Im not sure I ever remember a year when so many big name titles came out. Most of the time more games were coming out than I had money for. Once again, Nintendo takes top spot as game publisher. There still isnt another company out there that can match them in terms of quality. They even managed to have a lot of quantity too, although because of it I think they let a few stinkers slide in.

Zoonami

I found this link a long time ago, but just got around to reading it the other day. Zoonami is a game company formed by former Rare employee, Martin Hollis. Although they havent released a game yet (and thier rumored first game is a music game) there is a lot of hype surrounding this company. Anyway, here is a link to an depth analysis of Super Mario World and Ocarina of Time. Its pretty interesting and nice to see that people put thought into this kind of thing….and realize who the masters are.

Mario 128

Well, Im back from my cousin’s shotgun wedding. It was nice to see all of the extended family. I actually had a lot of fun and noticed that all of my cousins and even some of my uncles had either matured or have gotten more relaxed. Good times.

As its been for the last few weeks, there isnt much in the way of gaming news. Reggie has been hinting about the Revolution, Mario is whoring himself out in even more games (this time its Dance Dance Revolution), there are rumors that Soul Caliber is coming to the DS, and rumors that Mario 128 is coming to the Gamecube and not the Revolution.

I have to admit, its getting a bit ridiculous that Mario is getting thrown into all of these third party games. I guess it will help sales, but its also devaluing Mario as a property. And if its true that Mario 128 is Cube bound Ill honestly be upset. Sure, Im looking forward to the next new Mario game, but if the Revolution doesnt launch with a Mario or Zelda it will start off on the wrong foot, just like the Cube.

So, we possibly have Mario 128, a new Zelda, and StarFox Assualt releasing in the twilight hours of the Cube, what is going to be ready for the Revolution so that it can ship along side the PS3? I guess we will have to wait and see. At least I know that my Cube is going to be getting plenty of love for quite awhile.

Street Fighter Animation

This is awesome stuff. You can check out the animation cycles for Street Fighter characters. Very cool stuff, especially for animators.

Anyway, Im out of town for a few days at a wedding, so enjoy yourselves.

Gamespot Article

Just wanted to post a few links to some interesting articles.

First, from Gamespot, we have an interview with the president of Ubisoft talking about EA buying a 20% stake in the company. Have I mentioned I hate EA?

*Update: It looks like Infogrames is getting into the fight and is willing to help Ubisoft fend of EA. Read about it at Reuters.

And over at Nintendojo they have written a nice little article on the merger of Tech TV and G4.
