In addition to the insanely succesful Spider-Man games based on the movies, we are now getting a new Gamecube game based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic. Fittingly, the game has a nice cel shaded look. Another cool thing is that you will be able to play as Venom. Portable versions are also in the works.

[FCBD| May 7th]

Tomorrow, May 7th, is Free Comic Book Day. Its a great way to get into comics, or try something new.

Simply go to any comic book shop and ask about their free comics. Most likely they will have a nice display. There are a bunch of great ones this year and everyone should be able to find something they like.

Check out the official website to see more about FCBD:

[Now Reading| Usagi Yojimbo]

There wasnt a lot to pick up this week, but the few titles I did get were all great. Matador is a new comic that I picked up because I saw that Brian Stelfreeze was doing the (beautiful) art. The story ended up being pretty cool too. Its a six part mini-series and Im looking forward to subsequent issues.

Lucifer, which unfortunately is coming to an end, is always a good read. Classic Vertigo. I also grabbed a free issue of the House Of M Sketchbook. Pretty nice stuff.

Finally, I got a new TPB of Usagi Yojimbo. Remember the Ninja Turtles? Maybe you saw the episode where a rabbit from fuedal Japan teleported in and helped the turtles. That was Usagi.

Usagi was already well established by then, but that was a nice cross over and my first introduction to Stan Sakai’s amazing world of a ronin rabbit. I know I say a lot of things are great…but this is GREAT.

This is one of the longest running and most consistently amazing comics out there. You may think that because its lead character is a rabbit the story would not be serious. You would be dead wrong. This comic is incredibly deep and mature. It also reads like a moral code book, following the do gooding Usagi and his journey spreading good will across the land. Not to mention Sakai’s amazing cartooning skills. Every issue is a joy to behold.

If youve never picked up a Usagi Yojimbo comic, or a comic at all, I urge you to check this out. The book has been going for over 75 issues and not one has been anything less than stellar.

Anyone remember the disk drive add on for the N64 called the 64DD? It was basically a zip disk for the N64 and was going to be used to…well, I dont remember. It only made it out in Japan and only had a few games. Still, its interesting as a Nintendo collectors item. Check out the list of released games and the current Ebay auction for this rare piece of Nintendo history:

Wow. I got more response to the 4cr recruitment call than I had planned. I just want to thank everyone who contacted me and let everyone else know that for the time being we dont need any more help.

As we get adjusted and determine what roles people are going to play, things might be a little hectic. Sorry about the post that went missing earlier. I think it was a glitch in the way I was moderating the posts. Hopefully it wont happen again.

I believe that 4cr now has a strong team and we will work to bring you everything you want and expect from 4cr. If there are any concerns, let me know. Ill be the uber-editor of all posters, but if something slips by my watchful eyes, Im counting on the readers to let me know.

Anyway, bear with us and rest assured that I will only make changes that benefit this site. 4cr is my baby and I will always work to keep it operating at my very high standards.

Nintendo has launched the mini site for Wario Ware Twisted for GBA. The site has some mini games that you use the tilt of the screen. WarioWare uses a special cartridge that contains a gyroscope to sense when the handheld is being tilted. Taking this simple premise as their starting point, the developers have designed a new batch of over 200 mini-games that avoid using the regular control pad at all. Sneek peak into some revolution gameplay? Click more for some some cool wallpapers.

A company out of Korea has made a Korean/English, dictionary/translator. It also has a mode where the DS can be used as a calculaor. The interface is looking very nice, looks a little like pictochat. This bad boy looks like it will give students another excuse to bring their DS to class.

Portable Gamcube

Heading into E3 I thought I would post a concept design of a portable Gamecube. Far fetched rumors have been floating around that the Gameboy Evolution will play Gamcube games. Highly unlikely, but if so, this artist rendition will give you an idea of how it may look.

It seems Sonic for DS will be on showing in it’s final and complete form on the showfloor of E3. According to SPOnG it won’t be a button driven game, but will use the touch screen.

SPOnG can confirm that this game will be something of a surprise, with the usual Sonic button-driven capers being replaced by an all-new touch-panel control scheme.

Will it be like those tech demo we saw last E3, where you were sliding the Stylus left and right rythmically on the bottom screen? 12 days left before all the questions are answered.

Okay so I was watching a talkshow earlier today and they had these child inventors on. The kids showed their inventions and then were given some gifts. They each got a Gamecube and Donkey Konga 2 and some bongos. I thought it was nice that the Gamecube and Konga got some coverage.

The show? Oh fine, it was the Ellen Degeneres show.

I’ve heard some pretty good things about the Final Fantasy concerts that happened a little while ago, so this is probably gonna be awesome. These people are taking music from all sorts of videogames and putting them into one concert. If you go to the front page of the site you will see where you can put in your information and request games to add to the playlist. That’s a pretty nifty idea. So far they’ve only announced a show in LA on July 6th, but if that’s successful you know they’ll announce more real quick.

videogameslive

Now from what I understand it’s just a concert with the music and orchestra, but if you go to the images section of the site you will see a stage sketch that suggests there will be a show that goes along with it. Interesting.

The contest ends May 6, but it’s not done yet. Over at touchingisgood.com there’s been a pretty large update with new videos and new pics. There’s really an astonishing amount of things that people can do with mannequin hands, but they can’t show you the fun ones. Check out the ones on the site anyway.

It seems as if this Aries character who has been posting rumors on the Broken Saints blog is not as creditable as many made him out to be.In the most recent MailBag on Cube.IGN.com, IGNs’ Matt Casamassina has spilled the beans on what he thinks about Aries.

Honestly, this Aries guy is a fake. But I have to give to him: he’s a pretty good one. He’s definitely on top of the industry and some of his predictions — guesses, even — are logical. He’s made an accurate guess or two about certain things not related to Revolution. And he remains just vague enough in most cases to perpetuate his credibility.

This may come as a surprise to many, even I thought Aries was genuine in most of his speculation, but some things are too good to be true, I geuss we have nothing left to do but to wait for E3 :x .
