UPDATE: It looks as if there was a bit of confusion and Majesco isnt going bankrupt, although they are in a bind. Read more about it here.

CGN News reported earlier today that Majesco Games has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

On the 13th of this month, Majesco announced that it cut its outlook by a significant margin. Upon this announcement, Majesco’s stock price plummeted by over 50%. The CEO of Majesco, Carl Yankowski, resigned amidst a flurry of bad financial outlook announcements. The hardware peripheral manufacturing division of Majesco, Hip Interactive, announced that it was shutting down. Just a few moments ago, the worst was discovered; Majesco itself is filing for bankruptcy.

So what other games does this mean we could be missing out on? Here was the company’s DS lineup:
A Boy and his Blob
Age of Empires
Black & White Creatures
Bust a Move DS
Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers

Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta is a genius comic series that has earned much praise and acclaim. Warner Brothers is bringing that story to the big screen. Also noteworthy is the fact that its being produced by the Wachowski Brothers.

Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as “V.” Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself – and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock Im sure you’ve heard all about this ‘Hot Coffee‘ business.

We all know the bad rap that videogames get in the mainstream media. Claims that this whole ‘Hot Coffee’ mess simply stir up even more. In gaming culture its very easy to take the exact opposite argument as most of the politians, but that gets us nowhere. Lets look at it from a grayer stand point.

Ive been keeping my eye on a comic called Grounded and I finally was able to snag a copy today.

Grounded plays with a concept that has been seen in comics before, more or less. But, Grounded manages to not only differentiate itself from the crowd, but does so with such skill that Im shocked that Ive never heard Mark Sable or Paul Azacota before.

Grounded is the story of a kid who is obsessed with comics. In fact, he believes that the comics he reads are real. Despite the ridicule of others, Jonathan attempts to be a comic book superhero, often with hilarious results.

The real strength of this first issue is in the setup. Jonathan lives in a world like ours, where the idea that comic book heroes are real is just absurd. Yet, he believes so much that you cant help but like him and want to rally behind him. Plus, for a first issue its fantastic. Grounded’s first issue manages to do everything a first issue should, without any of the pitfalls. The characters and concept are introduced clearly and concisely, a decent amount of stuff happens, and we are left with a whopper of a cliff hanger.

And the artwork is fabulous. Usually, with an indie comic, you have to set your expectations pretty low when it comes to the artwork. But, the artwork in Grounded is fantastic. Beautiful figures, great inking, clean storytelling. Its all good.

So, grab a copy of this book. Its probably one of the most enjoyable comics Ive read lately. It will certainly resonate with comic fans and should be very enjoyable even to those who arent. A quality product through and through.

Nintendo.com has posted an interview with Simon Jeffrey, the president of Sega. It’s a pretty good read if you have the time.

NP: This is kind of a wild idea, but it could be very cool. At E3, Nintendo announced that the Revolution would have the capability to download NES, SNES and N64 games. Would it be at all feasible, do you think, to partner with Nintendo and perhaps add the Sega Genesis to that list?

SJ: That’s a pretty wild idea. (Laughs.) You should talk to Nintendo about that.

You can read the rest of the interview here.
