First people were worried about the Doom movie. Then Comicon came along and people thought that it might be ok. After watching this trailer I have to say…be very afraid. If this trailer is indicative of the final film then Im staying far far away. It looks like one of those movies that the general public will forget about in a week and gamers will ridicule for years. But, check it out and form your own opinion.

Weve all read about it and even discussed it on this site. Any form of media is going to have issues dealing with sex (Hot Coffee anyone), but they are usually a decent read. This time, 1up offers up their thoughts on the subject.
Of course, there is always the other side to the coin too:
And then getting out of the sexual issue and talking more about simply the gender gap is this article:

I found out about another cool gaming ‘zine today called The Escapist. The third issue is available now and defintely worth the read (online or pdf form). I especially dug the article ‘Left Behind.’ Check it out:

I got my new issue of Nintendo Power (195) today (I think Im the last person in the US to get my gaming mags) and it was a great issue. There was a huge article on everything Sonic, Mario Superstar Baseball info, plus a nice look at ’sandbox’ games, where you have free reign over a city. Plus, the poster for this month is an awesome pic from the intro of the Japanese Famicom Wars DS site. This is getting hung on my wall immediately.
I also got my copy of Game Informer (148) which has a ton of great info, including a interview with the new head of Atari. The best part of this issue though was the huge coverage on King Kong. That game looks amazing. Seriously, with the help of Michel Ancel, this could be the greatest movie to game adaptation ever. Defintely worth checking out.

Ive been meaning to give my full blown impressions of Killer 7, but a few little things called work and school have gotten in the way. I have however, read some really good reviews of the game that are right on track with my thoughts of the game. The review from Insert Credit is great and really goes deeper than most reviews. And Eurogamer, as usual, manages to look at the game for what it is and give a good review. Check em out:

A little late as always, here are the comics I picked up about 3 days ago. There were some really great issues in here, including a couple of suprises.
The first big surprise was how good Adventures of Superman was. Im not a huge Superman fan and I rarely pick up any of the comics, but I saw that Rucka was writing it and Kerschl was drawing it, so I gave it a shot. Wow, even though Im jumping right in the middle of a story line, this was a great issue. Plus, Kerschl is the best Superman artists Ive seen in a long time. DC seems to try to put more realistic artists on Superman books, but they usually end up looking stiff and boring. Kerschl is able to pull of realism, yet retain a sense of motion and style. A great issue that has encouraged me to check out this series for awhile.
The other really stand out comic was Gotham Central. When a boy, which all signs point to him being Robin, ends up dead on the streets of Gotham, the GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) set out to figure out if it really is Robin and who did it. Great read.
Lets see…The Goon was crazy and bizarre as usual (this is a good thing), JSA Classified # 1 shed some light on a much beloved, but very rarely spolighted character; Power Girl. McNiven drew this issue of The New Avengers and its beautiful, plus it has a shocking ending for anyone familiar with the character of The Sentry. Whedon, of Buffy fame, is turning out some of the best X-Men stories Ive read in Astonishing X-men and finally, Bruce Timm did a backup story for Conan. If you dont know who Bruce Timm is, shame on you. His 4 page skit is awesome and defitenly worth getting the book for. Oh, and the rest of the issue wasnt bad either.
