The 75th anniversary of Batman’s first appearance came this week, and people and companies around the world joined together to celebrate the iconic superhero. One of the strangest new products to emerge as part of this celebration is a new action figure from Square Enix’s Play Arts toy line.
This design, crafted by Final Fantasy character designer Tetsuya Nomura, is pretty nuts. On one hand, it is utterly baffling. On the other, dare I say it – it’s kind of cool. That’s pretty typical of Nomura’s work, actually. Completely impractical and overblown, but with some neat details at the same time.
If nothing else, this is a Batman that would strike fear into the hearts of cowardly crooks. Look at those robot arms!
Nintendo’s quirky humans-as-virtual-pets sim Tomodachi Life will be getting a stage in the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.
This seems like it could be a cool stage. Apartments are hidden behind walls until a character walks into them, which – in addition to being a cool visual trick – should lead to some interesting strategies (like hiding bombs). Additionally, the stage will pull in random Mii avatars from your system to populate those apartments.
Know what that means? I can finally live out my dreams of seeing Hitler and The Joker in Smash.
One of my most anticipated games of the year is Persona Q. How could I not be excited for the combination of Etrian Odyssey and Persona? That’s like peanut butter and chocolate. Mmm…
Well, Persona Q’s release date has been confirmed for November 25th. I’m excited, but man, that’s just four days after Pokemon. Nintendo 3DS has a crazy lineup this fall. I’m already excited for Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, Fantasy Life, Pokemon, and Persona Q. Don’t know where I’ll find the time for all of them!
The US Gamer team have combined two of my favorite things – gaming and fine booze. They’ve got a number of cocktail suggestions based on classic summer games, as well as some nice beer pairings.
Got any other suggestions? Would love to see them.
