4cr Plays – Star Wars Pinball – Balance of the Force

by Antonio Garcia

Star Wars Pinball has finally received the Balance of the Force DLC pack that includes three new pinball tables based on the Star Wars universe.

As was the case for the main Star Wars Pinball release, there is only one table directly based on one of the movies (Episode VI: Return of the Jedi), while the other two focus either on one of the characters of the franchise (Darth Vader this time around), and another one for an iconic moment or element from the Star Wars universe (Starfighter Assault, focusing on the amazing ships from Star Wars, such as the TIE Fighter, the Death Star II and the Millennium Falcon).

The table for Star Wars Pinball Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is set in the forest of Endor, and you can use your powers (for moving around a gigantic pinball around the forest), to help Luke Skywlker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbaca, Lando Calrissian, R2-D2 and C-3PO as they fight the good fight to bring balance to the force in order to finally secure peace for the galaxy. This table is not as fast paced as the other two tables, and the design for the table itself is a bit on the safe side while still being fun and delivering a ton of fan service.

The Star Wars: Starfighter Assault table is very fast-paced, which is great considering you’re supposed to be fighting in space against incredible odds that are definitely not stacked in your favor. This table is very fun because you can pick between playing as the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire, and your decision will play into which ships you can control during some of the missions you trigger in the pinball table. If you love the spaceships in the Star Wars universe, you’ll love this table.

The third table is all about Darth Vader, and it ended up being my favorite of the bunch. The color scheme, sound effects, iconic music, mini-games and overall table layout made for a very fun experience, and I found myself coming back to this table more and more as I continued learning its layout and mini-games.

Overall, Star Wars Pinball – Balance of the Force is a great addition to Star Wars Pinball proper, and as was the case with the main game, Star Wars fans will go nuts for all the fan service available in this triple threat. The price for the DLC is low when you realize all the content you get for your money, and it will keep you busy as you wait for the next DLC pack.
