Things X 5 – October 28, 2013
Trick or digital treat
There’s a great sale on Resident Evil titles on the Nintendo eShop. You can grab Revelations for $19.99 on Wii U (for a whooping 13Gb of space) and both the original Revelations and Mercenaries 3D for only $9.99 each for the 3DS. I couldn’t pass up on the Wii U deal as Revelations is one of my favorite (and most played) 3DS games. It’s the closest you can get to the greatness of Resident Evil 4 but with an hilariously dumb story and oozing monsters. The online co-op Raid mode is an absolute blast to play and I hope to be done with Wind Waker HD soon enough that I can take part in a slew of online missions with you guys within the next few days. The sale is valid until October 31, which turns out to be Halloween, what a coincidence!
The PSN is also holding an enticing Halloween “Sale of the Dead” with great deals on high profile games like Bioshock, Puppeteer and The Last of Us as well as underdogs like Fatal Frame and Siren. Check it out!
Broken Rules may have something against rabbits…
Broken Rules (And Yet It Moves, Chasing Aurora) is having an Indiegogo campaign to raise money to help them finish their third game Secrets of Raetikon. It’s an open-world adventure game set in the beautiful world of Chasing Aurora and will be released on PC/Mac/Linux during the first quarter of 2014. If you support the campaign, you will get access to an alpha release of the game which, as witnessed by the developers: might include rabbits getting catapulted into the sky, sporadic cases of rabbit necrophilia, but also odd crash bugs (but that’s no fun).
I’m a bit bummed the game isn’t currently planned for consoles, especially Wii U (where Chasing Aurora was released), but I’m really curious about their new game and you can’t argue that it doesn’t look absolutely beautiful.
The Year of Luigi 2DS is fake but this is way better!
As reported by several media outlets, the apparently leaked Year of Luigi 2DS was a fake. That was to be expected, but as it turned out this was the work of Matthew Wiggins at Rose Colored Gaming (which I have already featured in a x5 way back in March). This guy is awesome and while this Luigi 2DS is unfortunately fake, his new “Unga Bunga” GBA mod inspired by cavemen is unbelievably real.
I want this now.
You want something scary? There is a deleted enemy in Super Mario Sunshine that poops enemies. He can only be seen by accessing some leftovers on the disc and this monster is roaming around in an unfinished level. Not only does he poop monsters, if you fill him with water, the flower/skin on its head falls off revealing an odd gigantic eye. If Mario jumps into him, the monster simply poops him back out, as seen in this video at the 02:11 mark.
Quietly celebrating 1 year of Wii U
Starting next week, I will dedicate a series of x5 to the 1 year anniversary of the Wii U, similar to what I did with the Wii 1 year ago. The good, the bad, the games and how to fix the said broken console; it’ll be great and honest, I promise.
I’m thinking that while everyone will be all over the new PS4 and Xbox One consoles, I will dedicate nearly a month to a console nobody wants.
Don’t forget, you can drop me hints on my Twitter account. Also, you are welcome to send me a friend request on my Wii U, my Nintendo Network ID is Jorf-Jorf. My 3DS Friend Code is 5069-3920-3758. If you want to snoop at what I’m playing on PS3 my PSN ID is l_am_error. Have a great week!
