Calling All Rebels – Write for 4cr
It’s that time again. Time to bring some fresh blood onto 4cr. Time to find some rebels out there who love video games, comic books and general awesome dork culture and let them geek out right here on 4cr. Can you craft sentences better than Coffeeman? Then you’re in! Read on for more details.
So, you wanna know what’s in it for you to write for our little site? Health benefits? Naw. Cash money? Nope. Love? You betcha!
In all seriousness, we make no money off of 4cr. I pay the hosting costs out of pocket and have been since day one. No one on the staff has ever gotten paid. But that’s not the point. What we have gotten are cool things like invites to gaming events, passes to e3, preview copies of games, free swag and plenty of contacts in the gaming industry.
And almost everyone on the staff has gotten some kind of sweet gig from being part of the site. Some guys have gotten paid writing jobs for big name video game sites. Some of us have made a little money on the side based on projects we started on 4cr. Some of us have gone off and started our own successful sites. And most of us have had 4cr bolster our resumes and gotten better jobs because of it. So there. That’s what we have to offer in that sense.
But more importantly, we have the 4cr community. We have the large nebulous staff of 4cr who always are there to help each other out and entertain each other all the time. We have the awesome forum members and twitter peeps who make talking about gaming so much fun. And it all adds up to a stress free site. We just love gaming and comics. We love them enough to want to talk about them with fellow geeks and write about them and share our opinions with the interwebs.

Whoops, post updated. Easiest way is probably send something in the contact form at the bottom of the frontpage. That will make sure it gets to all the big shots on the current staff!

As well is there a due date for submissions. I would like to submit a piece of writing but I have to finish up some pieces I’m working on for another site at the moment as a guest piece.
As well should the writing sample be video game/comic/nerd content.. or is it a writing sample in general? These things would be great additional pointers to know about.

There is no date. We are always always open to bringing in new writers, this post is just a big formal announcement.
The writing should be about some kind of 4cr related content. Sending along other examples wouldn’t hurt, but we want to make sure you can passionately talk about the kind of stuff that we would post on the site.

Not sure about writing, but I wouldn’t mind doing some illustrations for editorials occasionally.

And for those of you that we can’t offer full time spots to (there’s just too many of you, ek!), you can always send me articles and if it’s great, then we can publish it and get you started posting.
