Famicom Dojo Season 2: Sega Power Base Converter

Now that Famicom Dojo has taken the first step into the 16-bit wars, we take a look at what game companies were doing to keep an eye on their 8-bit install base.

Unlike the Super NES and Famicom, both the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive contained hardware to play Master System games. That is, if you shelled out the extra cast for this Power Base Converter. See more, picking up right were Episode 1 left off:

(It has already been pointed out to us that F-16 Fighting Falcon is actually a better example of the backwards-compatible hardware’s limited video modes. Now that we have a copy, we will be covering this factoid in the future!)

Episode 2 is coming soon, along with our look at the next up-and-comer in the war for 16-bit supremacy. Who will it be? Leave your guesses below!

Short and to the point, but all is well. Looking forward to Episode 2.

Nice episode. Are you going to mention all the other systems the Genesis controller will work on though? Like the Atari 2600?

Probably not (at least not right now): we’re focusing on the 16-bit wars.
