Zelda Skyward Sword Screenshots

Anyone else got the chills when they showed Zelda. Like the feeling you’re five again? It looks like a mix of twilight princess and wind waker. Motion+ will be used for sword movement and using items, while the nunchuck is used to move around and use your shield. The sensor bar won’t be used, only relying on motion+

Aiming and shooting is done in 3rd person mode, when you have an item you can throw, like a bomb, you’ll see an arc of where it will land. Since we’re talking about bomb, you’ll be able to throw them or roll them.

Enjoy the screenshots I took from the conference.

i think i might have to get a wii for this. i still need to get a gc for wind waker. i am hoping they bring windwaker/some other gc games through vc or something to play on wii.

The Wii can already play GC games, it’s backwards compatible

I’m a little worried about the shield/nunchuck mechanic, but I think it can work and believe that the game will be able to retain that LoZ feel, since it looks like LoZ and is absolutely beautiful…

re: brooks – Why don’t more people know the Wii plays all GameCube games?

I’m not sure why they’re explicitly eliminating the sensor bar, since in my opinion, arrow aiming in Twilight Princess was the best aspect of the Wii controls, and they can’t claim that 3rd person aim (which I think is a better fit for Zelda games) can’t work with the sensor bar since RE4 did it so perfectly. Hopefully they’ll also fix nun chuck combat gestures, since they were almost unusable in TP. While some would say that Wind Waker ‘press A to counter enemy’ and roll around the back of a Darknut and slash off its armor was too easy, I find TP’s alternatives strictly inferior, and in fact the only special combat move I ever used was the one where you had to stand still and wait until the last moment and press A for a surprise strike, and then repeat until the armored enemy’s armor was gone.
