Lost Meets Lucasarts

Despite any qualms that I may have about the ending of the show (I still am not completely sure how I feel about it, but I’m leaning towards the negative view), I do still love Lost as a whole. Very few shows have quite nailed both an awesome mythology and such compelling characters, and no other show had the same social component. I’ll miss sitting around with my friends and debating every little kernel of each episode.

You know what else I love? Adventure games. I’ve been toying around with Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis again, and it fills me with this nostalgic glee. Evidentially, the folks at Melbourne-based Penney Design feel the same way. They’ve put together mock-ups for a Lost point-and-click that look like they actually dropped out of 1987. They’ve gotten every detail right – down to the fonts and art direction. The dialogue is pretty amusing, and I laughed out loud at some of the inventory items.

Now I’m just angry that I can’t actually load the thing up in ScummVM.

Check out all of the mockups for more (click on them to expand to full size), and be sure take a look at their incredible “Retro Games With Modern Themes” series over on their site.

The comment about the Hurley Bird, the four-toed statue in the distance, and Peanut Butter (invisible) are all score.

Fail on not giving Hurley Dharma Tub (Ranch Dressing) :)

Unfortunately, I never watched Lost when it came out for the first season, and after I while I felt too out of the loop to jump in, haha. But this looks nifty.

That Hurley screen made me laugh an awful lot. Everything is so clever and well done. And the lava lamp!

For the record, the ending, though a little sad, was great…once I got it.

To say I’m not a Lost fan would be an understatement, I find it rather boring and self indulgent. Graphic adventures games in the other hand I love, if only Lost would have been as fun as these… great post btw
