4cr Podcast – Episode 2.02: The Floating Nightmare Head Of Professor Kawashima

We’re back, and sooner than you might have expected! This time around, the rebels tackle the Nintendo 3DS, the implications for 3D Pictochat, how Dr. Kawashima’s 3D noggin will haunt my dreams for the rest of my life, our collective boredom with Spirit Tracks, ludicrous rumors, the death of gaming via tilt sensors, and how 3D Pikmin will be the game of the next handheld generation.

Warning – the cast is full of cursing and penis jokes. Stay away if you have kids in the room, or if you’re more mature than a twelve year old. The rest of you – please leave feedback in the comments or send mail to mailbag@4colorrebellion.com.

This podcast sucks. Are you guys really registered sex offenders?

That Tucker fellow offends me.

I really like parts of Spirit Tracks, but it just did not have that Nintendo polish. In particular, playing the songs with the train spirit dudes was almost completely broken. It didn’t give you any feedback about if you were doing it the right or wrong way until the end, and it had completely unrealistic expectations about whether one could use the mic and the stylus and make precise movements to skip over certain notes all to the rhythm and without any visual indications of success. Just thinking about that part angries up my blood again.

The train stuff was mostly good and the implicitly sexual panic that Zelda has about having her body possessed was wonderful, but a lot of other stuff just didn’t work the way it should have given that this was a same engine sequel.
