Even if it works perfectly, for me the novality of motion control has worn off. Give me a comfortable seat, a beer and a nice controller.

What I can't understand is how Sony expects to compete in the same market as Nintendo with this. You need to spend $300 for a PS3 plus $100 for this device to play it.

So a Wii is half the price.

Considering that the market for this type of control is nowadays casual/family gamers, I don't think Sony will have much success.

Other than that, Nintendo innovated, and Sony copied the idea. This has always been, and probably always will be, a "me too" device.

That said, I do have a small hope Sony finally uses motion controls for their full potential, instead of suffocating the market with casual/family garbage like on the Wii. Like so many others, I was so excited for the Wii...and so roundly disappointed that 95% of the games are lazy cash-ins, or that developers put in about half the effort into a kiddie/super-deformed-bobbly-head port of their "real" PS3/360 games, and then they complain there's no market for 3rd party games on the Wii. They throw in a few motion gimmicks and call it a day, then cry when it doesn't sell. It's practically insulting. So Sony definitely could exploit that underserved market.

From gizmodo:

-What the name 'Clown Penis' was already taken?

-Apparently so was contrildo.

So in addition to the questionably named Wii and iPad, we now have something that may have been inspired from this: tinyurl.com/sonyinspiration? (the hitachi magic wand)

That does make me wonder... does it have rumble?

they're attacking the Wii market segment. But the problem is, the market segment that wants this kind of innovation and revolution ALREADY has a Wii. The only people who will buy this are hardcore PS3 fans that will be like "It's Sony so I have to buy it".

The PS3 fans got their PS3 mainly for particular games, blue ray, or any of the other features. Nintendo had it right when they made the Wii and now that Sony sees that, they're gonna try to take away Nintendo's "different" advantage to draw down their sales for FUTURE gamers (but by that point, the next gen consoles may have already come out and Sony will have been too late.

That's my two cents.

A big question for the Wii owners who already spent $100+ on their controllers and peripherals... why would you want to rebuild another controller collection for the PS3 when it is extremely similair?

I think Sony is going to have some trouble tapping into a market that Nintendo has already taken over. Other than that issue, I can't wait to try this out. Even if it IS a Wii with better graphics... That's what I want.

I love how everyone just reads titles of articles and watches a few videos on youtube to base their judgement on something, instead of actually researching the product. Also, I'm loving that everyone is saying this will cost $100. Fact: Sony says this will be priced UNDER $100. Now if that means $99.99, so be it. Another surprise! This price would include the PSMove, Playstation Eye and a bundled software title. Where as a stand alone remote would cost much less. :x

I personally just hope that this product is good enough to get better experiences thought up for the next gen video game systems. I want this to create some good 'ol competition

I'm definitely waiting a few months after it's out. Knowing Sony, they could release it and NEVER support it again.
