A little bit to my shame but accurately illustrative nonetheless, when I first began to play Tower Climb I thought to myself that it was quite like an upwards version of Derek Yu’s most recent explosively popular title Spelunky. Obviously, Spelunky did not create the cave-exploring platformer genre (or the inversely complementary tower-climbing genre), but it did create a new standard which I think Tower Climb hits spot on with enough originality to differentiate it. With procedurally generated levels, randomly triggered events, strangely hypnotic music, and minimalist pixel art, this game is an entertainingly simple climbing platformer that requires only casual commitment and at the same time is addictively difficult.

Hey, thanks for the write-up. The game does actually include a read-me now. This build was rushed to meet a contest deadline, and the next version will contain much more content.

controls really need some work and better instructions, the 1-5 is not really mentioned at all

so uhh, there’s this recurring problem with dogs immediately landing on me the moment I spawn on a new floor.
Otherwise, its lotsa fun. If the controls bother you just use joytokey to map them onto a proper controller.
