The newest Nintendo Power has revealed images and information regarding the upcoming installment of the Mega Man series. Like last year’s Mega Man 9, Megaman 10 goes back to the series roots on the NES, with 8-bit sound, graphics, and gameplay.
But Mega Man 10 has one thing that Mega Man 9 didn’t have: sheep.

I thought Capcom had gotten down to the bottom of the Robot Masters barrel with bosses like Jewel and Concrete Man, but they proved me wrong. Sheep Man beats out both of them and judging by his powers (he can turn into four clouds and shoot lightning), he may have started out as Cloud Man until Capcom realized that there has already been a Cloud Man. So, Capcom, being the resourceful company that it is, just thought “what else is fluffy?” and went with the first thing that came to mind.
In addition to being able to acquire a power-up called “Thunder Wool”, Capcom is letting players play as Proto Man from the start and will have a third, unknown, character to play as. And as always, Capcom also promises a gripping tale, this time involving a disease that inflicts robots called “Robotenza.”
If it’s in any was as difficult as Mega Man 9, be ready to get your butt kicked multiple times come March, when this game is set for release. Or you could chicken out and play the game on its new easy mode, but where’s the fun in that?

I still need to play/buy MM9

Sweet. We can probably get up to Mega Man 19 by 2012.

I’m sorry but there is no such thing as too much 8-Bit Mega Man. If there was one thing I loved about Mega Man 9 was that I was thrust back into a world where every power up and 1-Up actually mattered. A huge contrast to today’s regenerating health bars and constant save points.
I’m excited to see it get more WiiWare loving. I’m sure it won’t be as exciting or seem as fresh as Mega Man 9 was, but I’ll love it all the same, especially if it’s just going to cost me 10 bucks.

Sheep Man? THUNDER WOOL?
You sir, have made this a first-day purchase gaurantee.

Robotenza? Watch the game get cancelled once Swine Flu mutates into the disease from Resident Evil.

Hey, I get it… sheep, wool, static electricity? Oh, Capcom, you’ve done it again! And third playable character? Maybe it’ll be Bass, especially since they gave us that tease in MM9. Hopefully, they’ll include him in the price of admission this time instead of doing DLC. (Never mind, it’s Capcom.)
I do have a beef with them, though. See, they forgot to tell me they were making a MM10. I had a guy all worked out.

Maybe they’ll come to their senses by the time they roll out MM11. Corn Man’s day will come.

Ok, I’ve set aside $15 for next year since that’s what I agreed to pay to Capcom for MM9 and some DLC. Really looking forward to it.
Oh, and Capcom, could you please re-license the Disney NES games so I can finally play Darkwing Duck and Ducktales 2? Thanks.

It’s totally awesome that Capcom is embracing the retro style and nostalgic desires of their fans with these new Megaman games, but I hope that they remember not just to make things in the old style for the sake of it looking old. This game looks like great fun, but if the next one is also 8-bit-ized than I think it will have worn out its welcome by then.
