Hello Player 1

Posting about Fret Nice got me digging around Pieces Interactive’s site more than I’d planned to today, but I’m glad I did, because it introduced me to another game they have in development, Walkie Tonky. The “physics-based action game” places you in the mechanical boots of an enormous robot invading Earth, primarily in order to smash everything on it into pieces – essentially accounting for the larger percentage of my all-time, most-awesome childhood fantasies.
I grabbed the demo because of the stark cartoony art style and premise at first, but playing it is something entirely better than looking at screens. Essentially you’re lumbering around, tilting every which way on your giant robot legs as the screen scrolls forward, stomping on cars and smashing into buildings while army planes and tanks try to stop you – pro-tip, don’t let the plane smack you in the head.
To avoid obstacles you can raise the length of your legs to step over blockades that try to trap you, or lower yourself so your hands can grab cars and other objects, throwing them to cause multiple explosions for points. You can even swing those big robot boots around to kick at anything in your path.
I’ve only been at it for about 20 minutes or so, but I suspect this will keep me up late tonight. Check it out for yourself by grabbing the demo over at Pieces Interactive’s site.
PSA – I don’t readily see a MAC version, if there is one I apologize and ask that you not pelt me with eggs. Also this isn’t new demo news, just new to me news.
Trailer after the break.
