Hello Player 1
The media floodgates are finally beginning to open around Link’s newest DS adventure and, while I’m not completely sold on the game, I am totally sold on that European cover art. Sadly, this is the highest resolution that I’ve been able to find the art in.
A Nintendo rep went on G4′s X-Play today and mentioned a couple of other tiny bits of information on the game. Namely – although you are limited to the tracks that the game gives you at the beginning, you will be able to lay your own track once you get a little further along. The rep also revealed that although Spirit Tracks is a sequel to Phantom Hourglass, you don’t play as the same Link and Zelda. Spirit Tracks takes place a hundred years after its predecessor.

“Spirit Tracks takes place a hundred years after its predecessor.”
Thinking about that kind of makes me sad.
You know that after their adventure, Link and Zelda just got old, withered, and died alone. Then another Link and Zelda come along to repeat the process.
And then you realize this happened after every game that isn’t a direct follow-up.

@ JHGD:
Well, that’s it then, I’m done with the Zelda series. Thank you.

@jhgd, I actually thought the same thing when I read that. I wish they would stick to the ambiguous timeline instead of stating such things.
Oh well, still buying it day one.

What’s the whole point of laying track?
Jamie Love on October 28, 2009 at 1:13 pm
@NAT – I’m wondering that myself. If you have to explore to lay track, it’ll be interesting to see what the motivation is for going back with the train.

Perhaps all these different timelines and such are really a foreshadowing of an epic, cross-times, multiple dimension Zelda “Crisis on Infinite Hyrules” event!

What the F is this?

This will be the first Zelda game in which Hyrule’s level of technology is higher than Termina’s.
