GoNintendo posted images last week of Europe’s limited edition New Super Mario Bros. Wii - which is entirely important because they get this awesome tin. Assuming my eyes aren’t wrong and this includes a proper release case within a tin, this might be my new favorite packaging idea for a limited edition release.
No word on it traveling to those of us in NA - you win Europe, I’m extremely jealous.
If you’re interested and wealthy, pre-orders for it are happening here.

A tin is nice, sure, but who wants a tin when you can have this sexy boxart?

N.A. is getting this special edition RED boxart. It’s niiiiice. It totally makes up for the lack of a tin, and then some.

@D~N - What if we put that red box in the tin?

The world would probably implode from the sheer epicness of it all.

I think the problem that might arise from the tin is that the top cover of the tin would make an uneven top and it would slant the rest of the game cases stacked beside it (or on top of it).

I live in the UK and the markup for this special edition is pretty steep. 15 pounds more than the regular game (about 20-25 us dollars) and there is nothing else special about it.

@JamieLove - omg.
i would have to conclude that CJMERL’s response is right on the money. I’d gladly pay any ammount of money for such a collector’s piece! Certainly a red box in a special tin would be the epitome of all things awesome and Mario related.

Having lived in the UK, I can assure you there’s nothing to be jealous of (except maybe an embarrassment of riches as far as games mags goes). I basically stopped gaming while I lived there because of the cost of more or less everything!
