Hello Player 1

Famitsu turned up a first glimpse and some initial information on Pokemon’s Wii evolution. As the title suggests, the game will take place within PokePark, and players will control Pikachu as they explore and befriend other Pokemon – which apparently involves mini-games. The Pokemon you befriend will help Pikachu tackle attractions set throughout the park.
I’d only started telling Evan about it when he said, “Oh, another spin-off?” It’s sad, because he seemed kind of excited at first.
I can’t deny that it feels like there’s never going to be a straight-forward entry of the series on a console, but I’ve never understood why. I’m not even sure if it matters any more, so maybe you can tell me – I don’t want to smother you all with chime-in requests, but it does beg the question, are any of you even remotely interested in the title?
If you’re curious, Evan says his perfect Pokemon console game would be in real-time, for starters.

you have no idea how freaking syched I would be for a full on Pokemon Game on the wii, even more so a pokemon MMO on the wii…
but this? when I first saw it I was my interest was semi-peaked, but I’d really have to see more of it to know if I’m in. from what I hear, you befriend other pokemon to fight along with you, and each pokemon has one power, which can yield some pretty cool results kind’ve a sonic heroes with pokemon tag team sorta play.
but this is all just speculation, I’d really like to see a gameplay vid.

I’d love a true Pokemon RPG on a console. It doesn’t even have to be as ambitious as an MMO. Personally I wouldn’t mind a Pokemon game with Four Swords GameCube visual style and a story that goes across all regions in the Pokemon Universe. All of that with online (doesn’t have to be MMO) and DS connectivity of course.

I’d just love for it to feel like the series is actually moving forward. I’ve enjoyed the Pokemon games I’ve played, but it feels like they’re just going in circles making changes that only the hardcore players will notice or care about. Its the same way I feel about most fighting games now, there just isn’t much reason for me to buy the newest version anymore.

The creators of Pokemon said a few years ago that the reason we haven’t seen a real console title in the series is because they believe strongly that the social aspect (meeting friends to trade and battle face-to-face, for example) is paramount. I guess they don’t understand how social a console MMO would be? But it would be the logical next step for the series, and it should have happened a long time ago.

Do Ambrella or Genius Sonority have anything to do with this one? …no? It might actually be good then.

This sounds like a horrible idea. Walk around and play minigames. I don’t mean to be harsh, it just really doesn’t seem like a good concept for a game. There’s already my pokemon ranch or whatever.
I would like a pokemon action game on a console. A game where you control Pikachu and he’s a Poké-super-spy or something, running around with the control stick, jumping, running on walls, zapping other pokemons with electricity (aimed with the Wii pointer), solving puzzles, fighting bosses, etc.
THAT would be a good Wii pokemon game.

Hmmm, just saw some footage showing Pikachu running around shooting some thunderbolts at a rouge Charizard and smacking around a Torterra with Iron Tail..
