Great review! I have been loving this game for exactly the same reasons; it’s got charm even as a b-game. Now I don’t feel like I have to defend myself for loving it so much.

Nice one Jamie! Really called me out when you tweeted “Ready to Rock Bitches?” in your link to this page… Went something like… “I AIN’T NO BITCH! WHATS THE DEAL?!”

Glad I checked out. Your reviews are as intelligent and well written as ever. What I got from this game is that it sounds like a nice gleeful rental, unless you fall in love with it, that is. Big fan of the whole stay-in-the-flow combo system. Harkens back to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for me. Yes. I’m comparing WET to a Nintendo game. I think the coolest tidbit in Jungle Beat was that you were able to make it through most levels, or level sections, by staying in the air through bashing enemies, grabbing onto ropes, and starting off with hard-to-pull-off stunts. See the relation?

I love that feel! I just can’t see myself putting down that much money on this title. So. Rental it is. :(

Also, another thing.. the video seemed like the contrast was way too low on your screen. I’m sure all games look a hell of a lot better outside of a low-quality flv, but it kinda bugs me… or am I just seeing things?

Well, goodnight… I have an urge to go to my nearest place of worship tomorrow morning… for some strange reason.

Played the demo for this yesterday, thought it was quite fun to play, especially considering it was barely on my radar prior to it.

@ZaxCG2 with the contrasting, I’m sorta hitting a wall with what I’d like to do and the equipment I have to do it with I thinks. Though there’s definitely a lag to the video that I need to figure out asap!

Also I totally get your Donkey Kong comparison. I really dig that momentum in a game, games that know they are games perhaps.

Sweet review! I just started playing this game last night… and I’ve been loving every minute so far… the style, the music, the action… all wrapped together to make a solid experience. It’s like the best parts of God Hand, No More Heroes & Mad World all in one. Love it.

Oh ho ho… you are one gifted writer, you glorious bastard. I would have seriously not only walked by WET, I would have spit on it, cursed it, and uttered obscenities at its developers, for what appears to be just another BBB rapid meat injection. But honestly, you have me absolutely sold on its flawed charms. It’s no cultural achievement, but it is part of our culture. And that’s more than I can say about quite a few other games.

I put this one up there with your review of Mirror’s Edge.

Great review. I played the demo and was impressed by the personality of it all and the feel of the game was a good one. Like another poster put above, I don’t know if I’d buy it, but at least a rental is def worth it!

I liked it the first time I finished it. By the fourth time I did that (for trophies!), not so much.
