4cr Exclusive – Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Our first look at the North American Boxart for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers – surprisingly similar to the Japanese cover, with the noticeable addition of Chocobo.

Oh yeah, and we got a small timed exclusive on it.

honestly some of the best boxart i’ve seen in a loooooong while for an american release. I’m really excited about this game because I absolutely loved the first FFCC, so much that I even bought some extra GBA SP’s and cables so all of my friends could play together. yeah, it’s that good.

@Lemcott – I was late to FFCC, but did I ever get hooked when I finally started playing it.

i got the game but never had anyone to play it with so it’s still sitting waiting for me. If i can convince my nephews to play something other than Brawl with lvl 9 computers maybe they’ll give it a shot.

God damn I’m excited for this game. I dunno why, but something tells me it’s going to be special.

On another note, they need to re-release the original FF:CC without the GBA controls, with an option to use DS download play if you want, traditional controls otherwise.

Is it just me or does having a spunky blond teen waving his hand at the viewer in the foreground give this thing a major 90′s kids movie vibe?

I’m not a big fan of the huge “CRYSTAL BEARERS” logo. The chocobo dudes in the background look pretty sweet, though.

This cover art looks quite nice but as usual SquareEnix will probably use boring plain block letters for the name of the game on the box spine. I’m not just picking on Square here, plenty of other companies do this too…and then other companies take the time to rework the logo so it looks nice on the box spine when the game is sitting on a shelf. How much extra time does that really take? Isn’t that part of what graphical designers are supposed to do? I recently picked up Dissidia and Soulcalibur for PSP and yet again this bugged me…Soulcalibur has a great-looking rendition of the logo on the spine and Dissidia just has plain-Jane white text. C’mon guys, rework the logotype for horizontal presentation, I bet there are plenty of designers out there who can easily do this job in an afternoon. Wait…am I the only person insane enough to be bothered by this?

I agree with yanipheonu. I haven’t been this exited for a game since the gamecube era. I really have grown out of loving games so much but this one is getting me riled up.

@alhogar Count yourself lucky, europe only really started to get decent spine art this generation, before now it was dominated by plain black n boring.

Though there is some charm to having all my PS2/1 boxes with the same typeface.

You know its not a special edition Final Fantasy game… because it has more than just the title in the middle.
