[TT] Wii Sports Resort Review

I reviewed Wii Sports Resort with the Toronto Thumbs staff a few days ago and found the game to bring back that magic feeling of playing Wii for the first time. I’ve been enjoying the game for about a week and each time I’ve gone back to play it, it has felt as fresh and as rewarding as the first time I played it some months ago at a Nintendo preview event.

You can check out the review here, but I also wanted to add that since that article went live, I’ve found an immense appreciation for the basketball game despite earlier trepidation towards it. Who knew that the Wii Remote, of all things, could help create such a compelling b-ball experience? Have you picked up Wii Sports Resort yet? If so, what do you think of it so far?

My wife just bought it last week and we really like it. I agree about the basketball, the shoot-out I think is fun and rewarding, especially when you adjust your throw and find that sweet spot. Also I have to say that I went into the cycling event with a negitive attitude because of some previous reviews, but I have to say we had fun with it also and I think its worth being on there.

I tried the swordfighting at it’s pretty sweet, a bigger rpg-type game (even an mmo) with this type of controls could probably be really great. Maybe that’s something for PS3 to do when their controller comes out though.

I really enjoyed my short time with WSP, hoping I can buy it soon but the game + a second motion plus is pretty expensive for me right now.

I keep trying to best my score at the basketball shoot-out. So far I can get 25. Not bad considering I used to be horrible at it. The game’s so short and such a fun activity that I’ll play the contest about 8 times without realizing how much I played it.

the basket ball mechanic is extremely cool. unfortunately my real life shooting skills translated verbatim to the Wii. there is tons of room for evolution here. NBA Street Wii anyone?
