Trauma Center Developers Expand to Whole Hospital
Have you ever watched an episode of ER or House and fantasized about your ideal video game hospital drama? Sure, Trauma Center is great and all, but it just focuses on that narrow slice of surgery action. Well, the developers behind the Trauma Center series are expanding the scope of their next game.
Trauma Team stars six different people, all working at the same medical clinic. Each doctor has his or her own scenario, connected by an overarching storyline. Gabriel Cunnigham is a brilliant, if rude, diagnostician (House, anyone?). During his missions, you’ll diagnose patients using tools like the stethoscope. The bizarrely named Hank Freebird is a cosmetic surgeon — he performs less threatening operations like hip-replacements. The more-bizarrely named CR-SO1, who is not actually a droid but a prisoner, has agreed to lend his considerable surgery skills in exchange for a commuted prison sentence. His scenario will be the most like the traditional Trauma Center missions. Maria Torres is a paramedic. She will apply first-aid techniques to patients at the scene of disasters. Tomoe Tachibana is the local endoscopic surgeon. The reserved Japanese doctor, who wears a lab coat over her kimono, will conduct operations where you run a camera through the patient’s body. Finally, Naomi Kimishima (who has appeared in previous Trauma Center games) has become a forensic specialist. She will reconstruct evidence from the scenes of crimes.
Given how well the Wii Remote worked for the Trauma Center series, I’m pretty excited for the huge variety of medical missions promised for Trauma Team. In particular, Naomi and Tomoe’s scenarios sound pretty intriguing. We should hear more about this game at E3. Until then, savor this small tidbit – Trauma Team will include the awesome co-op mode from Trauma Center: New Blood.
