Ok, so it’s not exactly Wario Paint, but the similarities to Mario Paint are very obvious. As someone who didn’t have the pleasure of owning Mario Paint when it was released on the SNES, I am very very excited for the newest Wario Ware title, Made in Ore. Not only does it contain 90 microgames for your enjoyment, but you can design your own! Being pessimistic about the creation aspect due to Nintendo’s previous efforts (Brawl’s level creator…how many games has Nintendo made with creation tools?), I assumed it would involve picking a type of microgame, choosing premade graphics and music, and putting it all together in a way that almost resembled creating your own microgame.

Thankfully, I appear to be completely wrong. While it’s hard to tell the different kinds of microgames you can create, the creation tools appear to be fairly robust. Not only do you get basically full control of designing the graphics, but you also get to create music and animations!

Made in Ore will be released in Japan on April 29th, with a release of a companion title on the Wiiware coming soon after. The Wiiware game will allow you to play the games you, and I assume others, created on the big screen. Made in Ore has not been announced for a U.S. release as of now, but every other Wario Ware game has been released stateside, so there’s probably a good chance of this happening.

If I remember correctly, the prototype of WarioWare Inc was made on Mario Paint 64DD.

Neat. I’m really impressed by what the game could do. I would really like to know more about its WiiWare companion though.

I remember seeing in IGN that they’re calling it ‘’Me Ware'’ for the localized version. It could change, though. And yeah, when I first saw the videos, I thought of Mario Paint for DS, but I guess making it a game tool is more fun that making it only a painting game.

The series’ name in Japan is “Made in Wario”, and “ore” is one way to say “me” in Japanese. So “Me Ware” would be a reasonable translation of the name, though NoA could pick something different too.

They are talking about game contest in the video. That’s promising!
The litle game designer inside of me is impatient!

what will sell this game for me is how good the music creator is
gotta have that or else it’s not Wario Paint

Pretty sweet, its nice to see this kind of creative stuff so heavily promoted lately- are the levels shareable online or just for the user and their friends i wonder?
Ah wait, nintendo, i think i already know the answer
