We’re a few days late, but read on to find out what the 4cr staff played in February.

Jody:

Since my wife has taken over the TV with Animal Crossing: City Folk, I have redeveloped my love affair with the DS this month. Most of my time has been put into Retro Game Challenge and Chrono Trigger, with of course some Zoo Keeper thrown in. I have honestly probably put more time into Zoo Keeper than any other game in my life. It’s the perfect pick up and play game. I hope they release a version for DSiWare, so I can have it available on my system at all times. All three of these games are ones you should own. Especially Zoo Keeper. Seriously, it’s only like eight bucks at GameStop. Buy it.

When I have been able to get some time with the TV, I have been playing Super Nintendo. Making my way through Yoshi’s Island for the first time. It’s fantastic. I got a fantastic deal on a local video game forum, picked up the cart for $6. Still only on world 3, but I’m loving it.

Art Style: HacoLife (BoxLife) - This DSiWare title is more than just a puzzle game about cutting and folding boxes; it’s Japan’s interpretation of the American Dream; it’s the unrealistic but fulfilled promise of prosperity after a life of noble labor; it’s an alternate history in which Bart Simpson never ditched his school field trip to the box factory, and was inspired to pursue a career in the cardboard industry.

Michael:

I’ve been a prime example of the worst case scenario of addicted online casual gaming habits. I’ve probably spent at least half of my free time this month playing various games on Kongregate and Nitrome. Seriously, the end of every night usually consists of me looking at how much time I’ve wasted and crying “F***!”

Console-wise, I’ve been squeezing in a few hours here and there every week some Left 4 Dead. I usually find some time between “I should’ve already started my homework” and “it’s too late to even bother anymore.” It’s just so good to finally have an online game for the Xbox where you’re consistently running into people that are really fun to cooperate with for an hour or two at a time.

Overall, most of my gaming device time this month has been spent on LSDJ. I don’t remember if I’ve gone over this before and I bet that most of you already know what it is, but for those of you who are unfamiliar LSDJ is a music tracker/synth programmed for the original Gameboy. It’s a pretty rad toy that I constantly use to kill time between classes. Right now I’m trying to think of a super sweet DJ name so throw out suggestions if you’ve got any. My current thoughts are DJ Byrd Chylde, DJ Mike Rowe/My Crow/Micro, and DJ Tanner.

Evan:

Well, since my Wii, DS, and PS3 were all stolen this month, I’ve pretty much only played Nintendo 64. My games of choice have been Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Blast Corps, Pilot Wings, and I got 120 stars in Super Mario 64 (for the sixth or so time) one weekend when I was sick. I haven’t really played much of any of those recently though, but I plan on getting a DSi come April, so at least I’ll have that.

Edgar:

This month I’ve been playing a lot of Burnout Paradise and Lord of the Ring Online. Also, I’ve been playing Quake Live pretty regularly, I’ll do a post on this game as soon as the big features are back in the game.

On the DS side, I’ve been playing through Blue Dragon + for my review, it’s a fun little game simlar to FFXII Revenant Wings on the DS.

June

I’ve been on hiatus from the gaming scene this month, but there’s always time for World of Warcraft, Pokemon Ranger 2 and Pokemon Pearl. I got the li’l nephew Pokemon Diamond for Christmas, so he’s been really into it and following me like a shadow. It’s cute!

“Auntie June, how did you get so many level one dratinis??”
“Oh, you can breed them!”
“How do you… breed them?”
“Well… when a boy Pokemon and a girl Pokemon love each other very much…”

Hopefully, my sister won’t read this.
