January was a blur for all of us, and as such, our gaming time took a hit across the board. We still managed to find some time to play here and there, though, so read on to hear which games got our love during the first month of the year, and be sure to let us know what you spent your time with, too.

Jody:

Most of my gaming for the month of January was watching my wife play Animal Crossing: City Folk. She loves that game, and I love her loving that game and sharing in my obsession/hobby. I also have been playing Brain Thaw on my iPod Touch way too much. Aside from that, I’ve been playing Professor Layton again, trying to finish up all the puzzles, but taking my time with it. Where are the other Layton games, NoA?!?

Evan:

I haven’t played many games this month because I’ve been busy with other things and also because I didn’t even have access to my systems for the first half of the month. My rooomates and I did set up an N64 at our house, though, and that’s really all we’ve played. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Super Mario 64 have been our games of choice this past week.

Greg:

Ah, January. You sucked away all of that free time that I had in December. I haven’t been able to conquer any more sixty-hour RPGs, but I have been playing a few games. The new Prince of Persia is a beautiful game. I have some issues with the (lack of) gameplay variety, but the artwork and interesting characters have kept me playing. Left 4 Dead is one of the greatest co-op experiences in gaming, so I’ve lost several evenings to zombie-blasting this month. I also picked up the Fallout 3 DLC. On the DS, I’ve been dumping time into Trackmania DS and Big Bang Mini.

Nick Rumas:

Something big happened to me this month: I got back into Excite Truck. This is both good and bad news. Good because it’s one of the most incredibly awesome games ever created, and bad because it’s so ridiculously addictive. I completed/unlocked every single thing the game has to offer in July of 2007, and after that month, I moved on and successfully reclaimed my life. But the beast has come back, and it wants to take me captive once again.

It was my friend Kyung’s fault. He had a party at his house over the Lunar New Year — the longest holiday in Korea — and Excite Truck became the main attraction. Things got competitive, and that was when I felt it start to take me over once again. All of this has made me more anxious than ever to see this new project that Monster Games has cooking for Wii. Here’s hoping it’s the triumphant return of Excite Bike.

Other than that, I continue to play through the amazing Mother 3.
