Well, it’s the second Thursday of the month, so it must be that time of the month. The time where the NPD sales numbers for America hit, fanboys squeal and moan, and the hardware companies release their own PR spin. Of course, this time around, I’m not sure how Sony or Microsoft will be able to make their numbers look good. Yeah, Nintendo’s systems have been selling like hotcakes for awhile, but nothing like this. What’s the damage? Take a look.

Yes, that is over two million Wii systems sold. The DS is also doing pretty well for a system that everyone owns two of already. Microsoft can’t compete with the Wii, but they aren’t doing a shabby job against the “Playstation family.”

What about the software? As you’d expect, Gears of War and the new Call of Duty dominated the competition. What are these new Wii owners buying for their system? Well… It looks like they’re all grabbing Wii Play for that second controller. The Wii version of Guitar Hero 4 beat out all other versions to make it into the top ten.
