One of the things I was told I HAD to do at the Tokyo Game Show was to take a picture posing by the main sign. I had done thins every year with the other staff that came with me. This year by day four of the show, I was all by myself so this is my kind of sad picture. Still, as alone and tired as I may be, I was still excited about the 4th day of TGS.

I thought it would be good to take a short video of what the crowds look like at TGS. To tell the truth, in most areas it is actually more crowded than this video shows but it was also too crowded for me to use my camera.

Because of the big crowds I knew I wouldn’t be able to play very many games. So I had to choose very carefully. The first game I lined up for was Bandai-Namco’s new Wii RPG, “Fragile”. The wait was about 2 hours so I was very glad to have my DS with me. I played some Meteos and Layton. The line took forever, but on a positive note I did get to play the game for quite a while. My impressions are coming later.

The pressroom was almost deserted today. Can’t say I blame most of the press for not coming on the public days. It is very hard to get around and the lines to play games are insane. Still for someone like me who is thrilled to just be here, it seems like a bit of a waste to not use every minute you can.

Here is the Hudson booth; they were selling “Shooting Watches” which are small yellow devices with a “fire” button. You use these to train yourself to shoot faster. 16-shots per second is a goal every shooting-gamer should aspire to.

Do you remember that video that was posted on all the game sites last year about that guy who found a way to do head tracking on the Wii. Well at TGS I finally got a chance to try it. It is in fact as cool as it looks in the video. I am still upset the EA took this out of Boom Blox.

This is the second and final day for the cosplayers and they are putting on their best possible show. Many of the spend all year making their costumes and they would never think of wearing the same one 2 years in a row so they are not wasting a minute of this precious posing time.

Like yesterday there were a number of presentations. This one was on the new Gyakuten Saiban game, Gyakuten Kenji. I might have enjoyed watching more if I was able to get closer.

I wanted to try a few more games during the last day so I looked for game with short lines. I didn’t find any but I found 2 with lines lass than half an hour. I played the Cave Shooter Ketsui, which was ported to the DS by Arika and conducted an on-the-spot interview, which you can read later.

The final game I played was SNK’s Kimi no Yuusha which I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did. Again full impressions are coming as soon as I have the chance to write them down.

When looking through my photos I saw that this was the last photo on my Camera. I don’t remember taking it and I am still not sure what it is.

I left the game show tired but feeling fulfilled. Another great show was over. And by this time I was ready to go home. Luckily for me my wife was also in Japan for her friends wedding and was able to meet me at the airport and fly back with me.

You know, this year the 4 days of booth babes didn’t do anything for me. Some would say I’m getting older but I am pretty sure it has everything to do with this beautiful woman who was waiting at the airport for me.

This concludes my journals for this year but keep coming back to the TGS main page, which I will continue to update with impressions and interviews in the coming days.
