So after several requests, Kevin agreed to write a post on the girls at the Tokyo Game Show. Armed with his camera he set out towards the first booth, however the girls seemed to have a slightly different idea…

Luckily for you, Holli and I have decided to bring you the very best of the TGS 2008 girls! We have developed a complex ranking scheme in the hope to enhance the enjoyment of our photo collection.
We will be ranking the girls on a scale of 1 to 5 in the following categories:
Posing
Ability to blend in on the streets of Tokyo
Advertising skills
Quality of costume
Originality
Personality
ENJOY! Oh and don’t forget to check back tomorrow because we didn’t quite get everyone yet! So we will be posting up more lovely ladies on Sunday!

So here are our first ladies, we met them as we first came into the Tokyo Game Show, they were encouraging some rather un-athletic men to play twister with them, needless to say they didn’t have a very difficult task convincing people to join them nor did they struggle winning any of the games… don’t worry I got that on camera too!
[Ed. Check out the YT video!]
Stats:

Comments: These girls were truly awesome, they were super excited about everything, however when it was photo time they resorted to the ever popular Japanese ‘peace’ sign, sigh, what a disappointment. And their costumes are actually fairly rubbish. It’s lucky they’re cute is all I can say.
OK here’s number 2! The HUDSON GIRLS! There were quite a few of them actually, but sorry I only got 3 in the picture, it’s a little crazy competing with so many men for these shots…

Stats:

Comments: My points seem very average, they only got 3 for posing because although the first girls is posing the others knew about the picture and still didn’t bother, outrageous! Haha! I love that they are posing with that tiny magazine that nobody can read (oh no…), special costume points go out for the cuffs with no shirt and big tie, not very original though!
These 3 lovely ladies come as a set! They were awesome is all I can say!

Stats:

Comments: I didn’t really talk to these girls and they get 0 for advertising because I didn’t get any leaflets or anything! Though their costumes were awesome, they do loose 1 point because they are wearing a lot more clothing than some of the other girls, but what with accessories such as fairy wings and elf ears how can you go wrong?
The ‘Mobake Town’ girl. Yup she looks real cute doesn’t she?

Stats:

Comments: She is defiantly one of the cutest girls of the day, however she wasn’t very nice to us! She wouldn’t let us play the game behind her, I’m not entirely sure why, maybe she thought we just wouldn’t get it… It does look pretty complex. I really like her costume though.
The AU Girls, one of them was giving out fans, even though it’s mid-October…
I really wanted the girls hat, but I don’t think I could handle the job that goes along with it!

Stats:

Comments: The girls score highly for the following reasons, their awesome outfits, the fact that if they stood in front of an AU phone shop they would blend right in like a chameleon and because they are neon, and therefore completely visible for miles even at TGS. Oh and for some reason the first girl took a little while deciding which pose you’d like best, so appreciate that!
Interchannel , impressing people with some of the smallest costumes at the game show

Stats:

Comments: Paper hats?! What is this a kids birthday party!? Compare her to the AU girls and she fails miserably! Oh and that’s her pose too, she’s not trying to catch the hat as it falls off her head! Still she seemed to be doing a good job as she’d got a lot of other people to wear those hats too!
The ‘Discover New Creation’ girl, frilly…

Stats:

Comments: She was really cute! And obviously her costume was great, but she wouldn’t do very well on the streets of Tokyo. And her costume wasn’t exactly original either, haha!
Super shiny, super long socks, and advertising PROFESSOR LAYTON 3! They have my vote for sure.

Stats:

Comments: Posing was rubbish and I don’t see their costumes being very good on a day to day basis, which is why they are one of my favourite outfits at TGS! Plus I guess I’m a little bias because they are advertising a game I love!
The TECMO Girls. Yeah these girls sure loved to pose, the black and red girl posed for about 10 shots for 1 guy, he had one of those big zoom lenses…

Stats:

Comments: Yeah these girls score highly, but we all agreed their costumes were probably the most revealing of all of the stands! Therefore they advertised pretty well! There were no other costumes like theirs at the show and they were really popular!
This girl was just awesome, but what made her so cool is that to play the games on her booth you had to dress like a wizard, yup, those are the rules!

Stats:

Comments: I didn’t talk to her but her booth and her costume were both really fun and original so she gets lots of points!
And next to the most boring TGS costume…

Stats:

Comments: Well I guess it is original to have your models not scantily-clad, but it’s pretty weird! She looks like a guest, oops… maybe she was?
The Cosmic Break girl… another maid costume! But I like this one more.

Stats:

Comments: Well another maid costume, what more can I say about it? She looks pretty cute though, and she gave me free stuff!
The Cybernet Girl. - Yeah, that’s the company name tattooed on her body! …are they real? Probably…

Stats:

Comments: I think she has one of the best costumes mostly because of the tattoos, suspenders and excess plastic clothing! She’s also very cute and gave me free stuff which makes me like her more obviously.
The Marvelous Girls are truly marvelous…

Stats:

Comments: Yes, I think they could easily blend in on the streets of Tokyo, in fact, I think I’ve seen someone wearing that pink outfit before…
These guys were really awesome in every way so they get lots of points. They get 3 for personality because I didn’t speak to them.
The Capcom girl. Doing some serious advertising!

Stats:

Comments: She loved to pose that’s for sure, and what a perfect way to advertise your company’s name? Just get her to wear it as a belt, no chance anyone will miss it then! Oh and check out in the background the booth for Phoenix Wright 5, which I’m not supposed to have taken pictures of! It’s really awesome and set up to look like the court room!
And finally for the day… two super cute girls in blonde wigs.

Stats:

Comments: So these girls were actually at the back of their booth because people weren’t supposed to be photographic them, but I did anyway and they were really nice about it! That’s why they weren’t doing any advertising! Oh and there’s no way they’d blend in on the streets of Tokyo, trust me, with blonde hair you never can…
So that’s it for today, hope you liked it! I’ll try and get you some more great pictures of the girls tomorrow!

Somehow, this is very sad.

I wonder how the female readership of 4CR reacts to stories like this.
Also, did you really need to watermark those?
Kyle - 10.10.08 1:39 pm
@Both
You guys realize that two girls wrote this post, right?
rbelmont - 10.10.08 2:03 pm
Lol nice TGS coverege.
Login - 10.10.08 2:56 pm
Awwwh, I want there to be booth boys….
Adam D - 10.10.08 3:32 pm
@RBELMONT
Well that does explain some things, but I just feel regardless of how tastefully it’s done, a booth babes feature just seems like something for IGN.
On another note:
Comments on blogs and news sites are such interesting things, on one hand it’s nice to be able to hear what readers have to say but on the other hand, occasional critics like me should can be annoying or perhaps what we say is taken too personally.
I feel that websites these days constantly are guilt tripped because of reader comments and as a result tend to homogenize their content instead of following their gut. Oh well, I digress…

Fun stuff. I wonder how much of a booth’s budget goes towards babes.

The pair wearing the orange and white (AU girls?) were given a rating of 4 for their ability to blend in on the streets of Tokyo. Is this really accurate? Maybe knee-high boots and train conductor hats are making a comeback over there.
Ben - 10.10.08 5:46 pm
OMG!!! I love the rating system for this. Not just are they pretty but you can not look at the stats of the girls. Perfect!!!
eom - 10.10.08 6:03 pm
Cute chicks.
tehub - 10.10.08 7:33 pm
This year since there were so many games to cover, I wasn’t planning to do a booth girl post at all. I mentioned this to the girls and they said, “Let us do one!”
@Ben
If you ever go to an AU shop you will see that it is entirely that shade of orange. Not only would the girls blend in, they might actually disappear.
Vinnk - 10.10.08 8:04 pm
yep, still sad.
jeremy - 10.10.08 8:53 pm
Why would you have a problem with this? There was nothing distasteful about it.
Sketch - 10.10.08 10:54 pm
Grow up 4CR! Only horrible misogynist sexist geocentrics find women attractive. Seriously.
Arcanis - 10.11.08 1:39 am
Yeah, Arcanis is where the Attractive is
Edgar - 10.11.08 7:57 am
Geez I love exploiting women, I could just do it ALL DAY, if I could have any job it would be exploiting women, every time I see a hot girl I think wow I’d love to exploit her, there were several women at the gameshow who I thought were particularly exploitable and I enjoyed exploiting them on several occasions…
I saw a few guys who I’d liked to have exploited too unfortunatly TGS was also the place where I learned just how fast Japanese guys can run and sadly with all my cameras I couldn’t catch up, maybe some sort of disguise is in order…
Keito - 10.11.08 10:58 am
I’m a girl, and I don’t mind this article - the costumes are kind of awesome to look at, actually.
And you know, they’re there to be looked at, so you can hardly blame people for looking at them…
And I second Adam D’s comment.

Check this out. LOL.

I just exploited some potato chowder and a hamburger for lunch. It was delicious.
