I just wanted to add to Nick’s post about The Conduit. From his link to gametrailers I found this video showing off the Tech in the game, which I find pretty impressive. This game is probably pulling everything the Wii can give it.
Also after the break, if you don’t mind a small spoiler, IGN has the gameplay from the first level of the game.

The first level seems kind of dark though, maybe it’s just the video or my pc monitor?

A.I. looks really dumb…

I’ve never played a game where A.I. wasn’t dumb in one regard or another. I’m going to give these guys (High Voltage) a chance.

Nuttyboy, it could be that they disabled it or toned it down so they could demonstrate the depth of field. In any case, I’ve grown increasingly excited over this game. The technical side alone warrants a look. I’m amazed at what they’ve accomplished on the Wii. Time will tell if the gameplay is as solid, but I have high hopes.

Synaptic Flow, I meant the A.I. in the video looked incredibly dumb. Like they don’t even shoot back at all dumb.
VIG, you might be right, I hope that true or the level is like Level Super Easy.

@Nuttyboy
I’ve had problems with the difficulty too. They’ll just run out and kill everyone, and barely lose any life. I hope that it’s on super easy or something.

@ZikZak - Thanks, I forgot the second part

Interesting tech video, i like the projected textures. Its hard to be too excited about it knowing the powerful consoles can do much better, but for the wii, its impressive!

lookin goood
criskabean - 10.05.08 7:06 am
the aliens do have that cheesy Halo look to them, but it doesn’t look half bad from the video
meaty - 10.05.08 8:44 am
Looks good, but sadly I’m not impressed. Maybe I’m spolied.
Fajerkaos - 10.05.08 1:15 pm
FAJERKAOS you are spoiled.
Actually I find a lot of the gaming audience spoiled simply because there are portions of players out there unwilling to try new games, and new franchises.
They stick to video game series they are familiar with and games made by particular companies.
I think this game looks great. It looks a lot better then original demonstrations even. Even the level layout to me was really interesting for the first level. I mean they drag you underground through all this stuff, and then when you finally get out you see stunning environment. Both beautiful and haunting as it’s getting dark but the city is lit by the amounts of destruction.
I am also fascinated by where this game may take the player. Space perhaps? I always thought it was cool how Perfect Dark did that.
The Maverickk - 10.05.08 2:31 pm
@The MAverick - And is it just me, or does this game really have a Perfect Dark feel to it?
Edgar - 10.05.08 3:58 pm
Anyone worried about the difficulty must remember this fact: when game companies send demos to people, they always have the easy setting activated. This is because at places like E3 and other media conferences, the general mass is of a mixed skill level, and to compensate for this, they must make it playable and accessible for all skill levels. Essentially, they dumb it down so that NOBODY could possibly have a problem with it. The experienced players will have to deal with an easy game, but the strategy works. If they kept the difficulty up to high, journalists might get a Game Over in the demo, and that’d just plain suck. I wouldn’t want to buy a game where I died in less than 3 minutes. So if you ever see any video from a demo build, expect the easy setting turned on, for sure.

D~N is 100% correct.
An example of this would be when Super Mario Galaxy was first shown. I believe health was doubled or tripled.

The Maverickk, Maybe so, but I still don’t see the reason for doing good graphics (in the term of high tech, definitely not in orginality or style) games for the Wii. Sure, it looks amazing for Wii-standards but isn’t it just stupid to make something it’s major selling-point when it can be compared to so many better looking games on the PS and XBOX (still tech-wise).
I’m a general consumer, I look at this game, it looks boring as hell and not in the least impressive = me’s no buyz.
I’m not saying that it’ll be a bad game, just mistaken for one. I belive it could really have benefited from original art design over high tech.
The Wii-control and/or a great story might however turn this around, but personally I don’t think it will.
