Time for a little Friday fun. Cammie Dunaway is someone you’ve probably heard of. Ron Bertram? Not so much. But they both hold considerably powerful positions in a company we all know and love: Nintendo.
Today I was reading a Nintendo of America press release on another site and realized that it was very close to the one Nintendo of Canada sent me yesterday. So similar, in fact, that I decided to check the celebrity sound bites in them. Check out my findings below (emphasis mine):

From Nintendo of America’s Press Release:
“We have new games and new experiences for every kind of player this holiday season, and that will certainly fuel increased interest in Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “While there’s no way to gauge total demand for our hardware systems, we’re trying to satisfy as many of those players as possible.”
From Nintendo of Canada’s Press Release:
“We have new games and new experiences for every kind of player this holiday season, and that will certainly fuel increased interest in Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “While there’s no way to gauge total demand for our hardware systems, we’re trying to satisfy as many of those players as possible.”
Could it be that Cammie Dunaway and Ron Bertram are one and the same?
DUN DUN DUN!!!
In all seriousness, this is pretty funny. Makes me wonder if any of the quotes in press releases are real.

… no, seriously, this is very embarrasing for the press team.

Take what? It’s PR. Of course they’re both using statements prepared by Nintendo’s PR. I mean nobody ever actually talks like that.
Isn’t that standard practice?

No! The press, and PR especially, is only about the truth. When a company (that can be considered a living organism) wants to say something, uy

Umm… why is holding the zapper like that in the picture?
Shouldn’t the VP of Nintendo Canada know how to hold his own product?
Jonkind - 10.04.08 12:04 pm
Of course not. Quotes in press release are often written on the go by whoever is writing the paper. They don’t like… record the VP or something!
