Images have surfaced of what looks to be the early stages of the canned Marvel Nemesis 2 game. The first game was pretty terrible from what I read, so it was unlikely that the second game was ever going to get made. But obviously it got decently far along, judging by these screens.

The few characters that are shown look decent, with Captain America being the most finished and the coolest looking. The huge environments look great with touches of graphic halftone patterns in car windows and such. While it would never match the level of the Marvel vs. Capcom games (nothing could), it may have turned out well. Guess we’ll never know. Andrew at Superior Vision had this to say:

I was able to take a look at an unreleased Marvel game, which may have been Marvel Nemesis 2, at the same time as the Def Jam Icon 2 look earlier in the week. This game is extremely early, spawning you at random spots, sometimes under the stage, with poor framerate, loading times (which Ive edited out a bit in this video) and tons of other problems. But it does set the comic graphical style, which is very smooth looking when it works. None the less, it is an interesting look at one, of what Im sure is many, game EA has canned over the years.
