Hello Player 1

E3 2008 is fast approaching. Sure it’s not what it used to be, but it’s still destined to be a good time for all. Surely all sorts of awesome stuff will be shown, and many hearts will be broken. Like mine, when Coffeeman…well, lets save that for another time.
So what are you looking forward to seeing at this years E3? Let your imaginations run wild! Find out some staff hopes and dreams after the break.

Coffeeman:
Mother 3 for the US!Mitch:
I’m going to go out on a limb here — Oh, what the hell! I’m absolutely psyched to hear any new information about Double Fine’s new joint, Brutal Legend. When Schafer first unveiled the game, I realized just how amazing it’s going to be from that alone ““ and any new information is melt-in-your-panties good for me!That, and I’m looking forward to another year of passive aggressiveness from Nintendo on part of the Earthbound fanbase. Hurray!
Evan:
I don’t really think there will be anything too unexpected on the Nintendo front. They’ll show Animal Crossing, some new Wii Sports/Play/Fit type game, and Pikmin and stuff like that. The things I want to see most are Retro’s new game and the new Wii Zelda.Greg:
Mother 3 for the US!Seriously, though, I’d just like to see something to get me excited about the Wii again. Animal Crossing will help. Other than that, I’m excited about media updates on a few of the games I’ve been following. I’m not expecting anything huge out of E3, but I also hope to be surprised.
June:
Kid Icarus! But damn, I’d love to see info on the next Zelda. Nothing against original IPs, but I also like the stuff I know.![]()
The structure of Twilight Princess was very much like that of OoT, so in terms of innovation, it didn’t do a whole lot. On the other hand, TP was far more detailed and–HUGE, as far as Zelda worlds go. I remember waiting two years for OoT to be finished after it was announced, and I still have early screenshots that look nothing like the finished product–the same can be said of TP, too.![]()
A new Zelda won’t be for a couple of years, but I’m crossing fingers! (Do. WANT.)
Shaun:
Nintendo shows off new Animal Crossing which is backwards compatible with GC/DS versions (take items with you from previous versions). Also: It’s WiiWare.Hokku:
Miyamoto Quest: Shigeru’s Journey – An epic fantasy RPG where you roam around the world teaching everybody the meaning of fun. The game would come with a special pair of glasses that helps you see the world in the closest scientific approximation to how vibrantly Miyamoto probably sees it.Joe:
I just had a thought. A modern Zelda game that takes place in the present time frame. I just thought of it as i was thinking about Miyamoto Quest. I remember how he said he drew inspiration for the original game from when he was a child roaming the woods. It could be about a suburban adolescent who stumbles upon an ancient triforce relic, and it could go from there trying to track down the other pieces and descendants of the royal family.I donno, might be dumb, but if ANY developer could make it happen and make it feel like part of the series i think Nintendo can.
Jody:
Well, being the whore for anything Zelda that I am, I would love some new Zelda info. Perhaps a WiiWare Four Swords Adventures with four-player online co-op and voice chat? Hey, a man can dream. I am also looking forward to hearing more about Chrono Trigger DS, and Star Ocean 4. I loves me some Star Ocean. I don’t know if I am expecting Nintendo to pull out anything crazy or not, but I sure hope they do. Oh, and I would love a new Kid Icarus, of course! But one thing I REALLY hope is announced soon is a new Mario Golf game. I love video game golf, and I love Mario, so it would be win-win.

Animal Crossing is my main want, I’m so ready for it.
All I hope for is it’s not Wiiware, I just don’t want it limited or riddled with micro transactions.
If it is wiiware, I’m just gonna pirate it- and I don’t want to do that
Also, Star Fox and Kid Icarus, I’d hope at least one of those two plays similarly to Star Fox 64
D~N on July 11, 2008 at 11:03 am
-Man- Icarus. Do want. A new Zelda game would be nice. But that’s years away, so if not I’d be content with my Icarus. If they gave a release date for Wii Music that’d be great too. Retro’s projects have me anticipating something great, so any hints in that department would be awesome. And -please- lets have some Metroid news. Suprise? Metroid Dread this Q4? That’d be a dream come true!!!
Blood_Falcon on July 11, 2008 at 11:06 am
Animal Crossing Wii, I hope.
Howard Roark on July 11, 2008 at 11:10 am
@Hokku
Wow, that started off my day with a great laugh. Awesome.
As for my E3 wishes…I’d like a new IP or two that make the Wii library a bit less sparse in terms of long, replayable, robust games. I’m so sick of the waggle-mini-game schtick. Come on Ninty.
Tom Don on July 11, 2008 at 11:11 am
I live on Diablo 3 hype and nothing is going to beat it!
Blood_Falcon on July 11, 2008 at 11:19 am
Also, I want F-Zero. (Which everyone seems to replace with Star Fox, who has more games than
Blood_Falcon on July 11, 2008 at 11:22 am
Also, I want to see the new F-Zero. I don’t care if it’s for DS or Wii. (Which everyone seems to replace with Star Fox, which is less deserving than F-Zero).
Arcanis on July 11, 2008 at 11:46 am
Mother 3 for the US!
Seriously though, I want to see more on Little Big Planet, Animal Crossing Wii, Home, Playstation Trophies, Nintendo’s unannounced game (did we ever get a confirmation on what that was?), Wii Music, Resident Evil 5, Mirror’s Edge, Left 4 Dead, Brütal Legend, the list goes on…
Maybe MS might even throw some Zune XNA stuff in there, that would be cool as well.
Arcanis on July 11, 2008 at 11:47 am
…add storage for the Wii and more WiiWare support to my list :p
D~N on July 11, 2008 at 11:51 am
Voice chat on Wii. That’s a big one. Also, I’m keeping my eye on Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts despite my lack of an XBox 360.
i_am_error on July 11, 2008 at 11:52 am
Surprises. With Nintendo being so secretive, I’m hoping for some.
As well, add more storage to Wii please so I will no longer hesitate to buy more games.
Kyattsuai on July 11, 2008 at 11:53 am
I’m going to take a shot in the dark and guess they’ll announce a new WarioWare game based on the Wii Balance Board, and a brand new Mario sport.
Ideally, though, it’d be great to see them take one of the spin-off Mario platformers (Super Princess Peach or Yoshi’s Island, for example) and make it 2.5/3D for the Wii.
Amauriel on July 11, 2008 at 11:57 am
What’s with all this “Mother 3 in the US” stuff…
Far as I’m concerned, that’s being too specific.
I’d take Mother 1+2 for US, Earthbound for VC, Mother 3, Mr. Saturn making a cameo in a Kirby game again…anything Earthbound/Mother would be peachy-keen with me.
Blood_Falcon on July 11, 2008 at 12:41 pm
@KYATTSUAI – So I guess you didn’t hear about Wario Land: Shake it?
thesimplicity on July 11, 2008 at 12:44 pm
I don’t think we’ll see anything on a new Zelda. If you read the Iwata Asks for Link’s Crossbow Training, Miyamoto referred to it as the TP ‘gaiden’ for this generation of consoles.
MAL on July 11, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Would love to see a new Zelda or Pikman game! A new F-Zero game would also be nice.
Mookie on July 11, 2008 at 1:32 pm
As much as I would feeeel horrrrible for the Unified Translation team doing all that work for nothing, I would still feel entirely safe and secure in the world if a Mother DS Trilogy is revealed. Though I’m guessing that’s even more unlikely. So, here’s hoping for at least Mother 3.
But, realistically, top of my list? First teaser of the next Zelda. It’s more than about time.
Mookie on July 11, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Oh and, sad news for Mitch. And me. =( I was so looking forward to it too….

Sadly, I’ve been finding out that the companies (or games) I would have most been excited to hear more about won’t even be at E3.
Not that the big three won’t be interesting, but I always seem to be most excited about random “niche” announcements.
I guess I’d be interested in hearing more about Persona 4, assuming Atlus will be there. I’m not sure.
Jody Anthony on July 11, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I wonder if we’ll see those rumored wii ports of metroid prime 1 and 2
rbelmont on July 11, 2008 at 2:55 pm
@Jody
That would be so awesome. They’d have to change them though, so they wouldn’t be too easy/too hard with the new control scheme.
That said, I’d LOVE another reason to play through the fantastic MP2: Echoes again.
Cowlix on July 11, 2008 at 4:35 pm
@ Joe
I totally agree. Present day Zelda would be innovative, intresting and a blast to play.
Pedro on July 11, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Earthbound, I reckon.
Lemcott on July 11, 2008 at 8:30 pm
extra storage. Icarus. F-ZERO. Animal crossing. Ninty wont say anything about a new zelda, theyve already stated theyre not gonna hype anymore games until theyre near completion. retro /might/ say something about their new game, I think that to go along with what nintedo has them doing, they actually might be the studio doing the new icarus. undoubtedly a new mario spinoff or “touch generations” bullshit. and thats just what I predict.
heres what I hope for: acti forces blizz to devolop starcraft and diablo for consoles, new metroid 2.5d (dread or otherwise, wouldnt mind wiiware full super metroid style new game), nintendo says “FUCK YOU!” and kicks bloatware devolopers with its energy legs and re-hashes the story of the nintendo seal of quality.
Bainick on July 11, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I would say Terranigma 2, but SE have already released there line up for E3.
Next on the list would be the next Mario game, and I don;t mean a sports game. Maybe one set back on the planet would be nice. Maybe even diching the whole stages thing and going for a World feeling.
Paradox on July 11, 2008 at 10:43 pm
New 2D metroid. Also, Terranigma for the virtual console. And maybe Majora’s Mask for the virtual console. But mainly new 2D metroid. Make it happen Nintendo!
Keitaro on July 12, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Announcements for Mega Man Legends 3, Chrono Break, FFVII or Chrono Trigger remake for PS3, Mother 1 and 3 US releases, Shenmue 3, Skies of Arcadia sequel, a new Phoenix Wright game, a new game by the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus development team, new Wii with 40+ GB HD, Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii Shop extra character downloads (incl. Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth), Namco X Capcom US release, some actually really good classic movie and anime tie-in games (like a good T2 fps) and much, much more… Hahaha…
And none of it is going to happen… But it would be awesome!! =D
Keitaro on July 12, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Also, the Miyamoto Quest glasses idea makes me think of the way Michel Gondry must see the world too.
Frostbeule on July 14, 2008 at 12:11 pm
GIVE ME FUCKIN’ F-ZERO ALREADY
