A Deeper Look at Pokémon Platinum

Great news, everyone! We all knew it was coming, and now, there’s finally confirmation on when we’ll be meeting the next member of the Pokémon family. Following in the footsteps of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum will be the bane of Japanese parents starting September 13, 2008, at a suggested retail price of 4,800 yen.

Along with this latest iteration are a few changes from Diamond and Pearl, including the inclusion of Shaymin’s new “Sky” form, which transforms the legendary Pokemon from Grass-type to Grass/Flying. Giratina, another familiar legendary, also gets a makeover with its new “Origin” form knowing the ability Levitate.

Pokémon Platinum will include:

* A new storyline involving good ol’ Team Galactic
* Both Palkia and Dialga appearing at Spear Pillar, apparently at the same time!
* An expanded Pokémon Center basement level supporting up to 20 players simultaneously
* A Battle Recorder that lets you record videos of your matches to share with friends
