Video Game Marathon for Charity

Some people run miles for charity. Brian Brinegar plays Mario games. The 29 year old web developer from Indiana is spending this weekend making his way through seven Mario games. He’s broadcasting the effort and attempting to use it to raise money for Child’s Play.

We’re a little late to the party, but it’s not too late to join in. Currently, Brian is playing through Super Mario Sunshine and has raised $6640 (88% of his goal). Head on over and take a look! If you’re feeling generous, throw some money his way through the donation button.

Sounds like an awesome way to spend a weekend.

What would the Sonic equivalent be (ie: what are the major Sonic titles) - Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles, CD, Adventure 1+2, Heroes, and… ugh… Sonic 2006? Anyone with a better knowledge of the Sonic series feel free to amend that list.

I imagine playing up through all the modern Sonic games would be more of an endurance test than a fun marathon.

This is great idea though! I chipped in a lil’ 10bux his way because he just died in Sunshine and must be tired as hell.

I really want to do this someday. Maybe Metroid games? Metroid, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime 1-3?

What other ones might be good, if the criteria is somewhat long series, omitting portable versions and spinoffs…

Megaman (normal and/or X)
Zelda (been done already)
Guitar Hero (once 4 comes out, at least)
Metal Gear
Tony Hawk

I’m really liking this idea the more I think about it, but I’ll reserve judgement until they’re near done with Galaxy, and I see how devastated they’ll inevitably be.

Spinball and Mean Bean Machine deserve be be on that list before those other two clunkers. ;_;

Gaming and charity are always a good mix in my opinion.

:) I donated a bit to this, its a great cause, and you can donate to CHILDS PLAY whenever, so don’t just limit it to this event. I might do some small 24hr thing with halo for something like this, im not sure.
