A friend passed this link along to me this morning, via drawn.ca (an awesome illustration/cartooning blog). The site’s en français, but the pictures speak the universal language of Awesomeness. While some of the images aren’t exactly from retro games – such as the one above – it’s still neat to see this kind of artistic composition of real-life and pixel art.

The Advance Wars pics are pretty cool, as are the rest of them - even if they’re driving the wrong way in the Mario Kart one =^u.u^=

@Lemcott! I do remember these now but had forgotten. Thanks for the reminder. Fizban’s work was also quite awesome - and apparently ahead of its time

Hopefully games will look like this in the future… I will welcome the return of the sprite and the abandonment of the uncanny valley.
