Instead of showcasing a game, this week I’ve decided to talk about my favorite webcomic, Cyanide and Happiness. Also, you don’t have to worry about this replacing Fun For Free, I just haven’t played any new games since last week.

I’ve read a lot of webcomics in my day, but there are very few that I enjoy or would recommend. The only one that I have ever read on a daily basis, excluding our very own Mitch’s Left and Leaving, is the sometimes funny Cyanide and Happiness.
Yes, it’s terrible. But it’s still so funny.
The comic is written on a daily basis by various authors, all with they’re own distinct styles and the same stick figure-style characters. If you read it a lot, you’ll be able to figure out which ones you’ll like and which ones you’ll hate just by the way they look. Rob is definitely my favorite of the bunch, with his so-bad-they’re-good puns and some genuinely clever comics. Unfortunately, the other writers are not nearly as good.
One thing about Cyanide and Happiness is that it can be incredibly offensive. Sometimes it’s unfortunate, because they substitute shock value for actually being clever and funny. If you can get over this, and the fact that you won’t like all of the writers, you’ll find some truly hilarious comics.

This is one of my favorite daily webcomic.
Check it every morning at work

I love these comics! I think they’re all fantasic. A friend showed me these comics last summer, and I spent a whole day just reading through all of them, and now read them every day when I wake up. Great, great stuff.

You say that like it’s a bad thing

What, no XKCD?

Cyanide and Happiness is hit and miss with me as well; I can’t say it has anything to do with one author or another though. I was kinda shocked to find Rob was in one of my classes last year, I felt guilty for the love/hate relationship I have with the comic; cause the dude is really quite hilarious in person.

I’ve just recently gone on a huge webcomic binge. I’m actually thinking of doing one of my own, although I’m thinking of something more serious (ironically, I was originally thinking of making it into an indie game, which is what this feature usually focuses on).
I’ve heard much of C&H, although I’ve read sparse of their material, outside of what I’ve seen various people post on message boards, myspaces, etc. It’s on my list of things to read, though.
Right now I’m currently catching up on Diesel Sweeties. And after that I’ll probably do this, or maybe 8-Bit Theater. I searched a whole lot recently, so I have lots of options to go through.
Oh, and I second the awesome-ness that is XKCD.

@ARCANIS
that is incredibly presumptuous and pretentious of you to say. what’s wrong - they didn’t post xkcd? megatokyo? for real though, you’re a narrow-minded twat.

if you like offensive, check out electric retard http://www.electricretard.com/.
Not anywhere NEAR safe for work, or people with sensitive eyes.

Cyanide and Happiness is pretty much the Family Guy of web comics. For a site that I fell in love with because of the quirky news stories and offbeat games/comics it introduced me to, this is the equivalent of a post titled “Fun For Free - Air!” and then going on to explain why air is great because breathing it keeps you alive.
You don’t need to get so damn defensive, we’re all entitled to our own opinions. My personal opinion is that this comic doesn’t live up to the quality that 4CR is known for. Random humor (let alone random humor that one can find on pretty much every MySpace or facebook) isn’t really newsworthy.
Arcanis - 06.09.08 6:55 am
I agree with Arcanis. C&H showcase their aggressive cynicism and randomness like some damn annoying high school kid.

There’s actually kind of a difference between having your own opinion and blanketing that opinion across the entirety of a site. I mean, you’ve essentially implied anyone that enjoys it is an ignoramus amongst the genius of 4cr lol.
I can see why people might find that offensive. Personally I don’t care about the comic either, this is just a public service announcement lol.

@Arcanis
I really rarely hear people talk about it, which is one of the reasons that I made this post. If it was talked about as much as xkcd or Penny Arcade or something, then I wouldn’t have felt the need to make the post.
The other reason is because I really didn’t want to miss a Fun For Free post (on of our few regular features) and I hadn’t played any cool free games in awhile.

Wow, um electric retard, is a little too excessive. Wow. Like it shouldn’t even be considered offensive as cyanide & happiness, more as it is degrading. Erections everywhere, like, I think I’m going to throw up. There are a few taht don’t involve them, but…

Wow. Left and Leaving is hilariously awful. I feel like such a troll for saying that bu jesus- it’s trite as a trilobite.
