Self-promotion isn’t usually my bag, but this is one of those rare occasions that I think our site’s fandom of Earthbound and love of moustaches made out of paper meet at a nexus point. A couple friends and I, inspired by Starmen.net’s last-ditch Internet call to arms, spent a long all-nighter working on a video exploring just what happened to the fateful Runaway Five.
If you look closely, you can see me playing three different characters because we only had four people there that night!

I’m a bit curious as to why this hasn’t been commented on 4cr yet; but you guys know Earthbound was rated by the ESRB for Wii about two weeks ago right? At the very least that classic game is getting re-released, though obviously it’ll take a sales miracle for them to even consider releasing Mother 3 =(

Nicholas: We chose not to report on it because bridging the connection that re-rating and an imminent release would be a bit knee-jerk. Super Mario RPG has been re-rated for nearly a year now, and we’ve yet to see it in the States yet.

That’s always weirded me out; I remember IGN running a story about Duck Hunt, Mario RPG and some other titles being rated, but I’ve never seen that on the ESRB database… and I haven’t seen any other games disappear from the list. I’m pretty sure they’re just not wanting to go back on their story, I mean after as many recent Wii ratings that have gone up as have become titles… the only one I can think of that hasn’t seen the light of day is Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (which you can still find on the search engine).
To be honest it’s killing me that this far into the Wii’s life the Virtual Console is still just as mysterious as it was before launch. Ah I should note, that Kirby rating? That is -months- old, so yeah who knows on the timing, thanks for the reply Mitch.
