The DS market in Japan is truly fully “expanded.” Check out this recently released game that came out called “Sukusuku Parenting DS.” It’s based off a TV show and contains tips on how to play with a young child. I’m not exactly sure what the above activities ARE (besides scaring your child by pretending your head was replaced with a white sheet) - but I’m sure it’s damn good parenting.
The game also includes a database (database?!) of children’s songs and minigames you and junior can play together. It’s like if they made a videogame version of the nanny shows on TV - and they actually put some effort into it. The American DS market certainly has a lot of catching up to do.

Is there a minigame where you feed your kids broth without any bread, then whip them all soundly and send them to bed?

The one in the middle is “how to make an origami banana”. No joke. I might be dead wrong, but I’m not joking.
The last one looks like a game that is more commonly played with cats. Kind of makes me question the whole thing.

@ Schtum: indeed, the katakana does say “banana.”

The game on the right looks like one I’ve played at a school in Japan. Everyone tucks a long cellophane “tail” in to their pants. The teams are seperated by tail color. We had red and blue. Then you run around trying to grab the tails of other team while keeping your tail. Once your tail is taken you are out. The team with the most tails when the clock runs out is the winner. I think the game was called shippo tori but I’m not sure.
Although the game on the right is labled NyoroNyoro Hebi or the wriggling snake, so maybe it’s not the same.

@Matt, yeah, that’s what I was going by, I just found the idea of an origami banana to be so ridiculous that I thought I must be wrong.

This is how a “real” origami banana is supposed to look like.

It’s made from one piece of paper with yellow on one side and white on the other. Of course, making it would be too intimidating for a young child so they opted for a simple model using a napkin.
