Iron Man opened this weekend to awesome reviews and made a ton of money. I saw the movie Saturday night and will probably be going back again in the next few days. Plain and simple, the movie was awesome. Awesome awesome. Due to a couple of weird plot points that really ask you to suspend belief I wouldn’t rank this movie as high as X-Men 2 or Batman Begins, but damn if it isn’t close. I’ll be writing up a full review after another viewing, but for now I just wanted to geek out and share some fun Iron Man links with you guys and a couple pics I took of the actual armor at the movie theatre here in Hollywood.

This piece of advice is probably in at least one of those links, but it bears (possible) repeatng here: STAY AFTER THE CREDITS.

You bet this is a kick ass movie!
Best super hero movie ever in my humble opinion.

This movie is gadget porn, engineering porn, and superhero cinema at its finest. Also, how in holy hell is Gwyneth Paltrow so hot as a redhead?!

Time to countdown: Iron Man 2 on April 30, 2010 and The Avengers on July 2011. Thor and Captain America will also be getting their silver screen debut around that time.

There are three really great superhero films of this decade in my opinion and this has the status as being one of those three. That says a lot. I was really shocked at how great it was.
X2: X-men United, Superman Returns, and Iron Man. I think that Iron Man just might be better than Superman Returns even, giving it the #2 position.
I thought Batman Begins was enjoyable, but nowhere near as fun or as good as the 1989 film. I’m still looking forward to The Dark Knight though. Hopefully it will come a little closer to the original, but I doubt it will top it. We’ll see.

X2 better than Iron Man? To each his own, I guess, but I’d have to say that Iron Man has got to be one of the most entertaining super-hero movies I’ve ever watched.

I have always thought Batman Begins was just a little overrated. Good movie but not great. Best of all the Batman movies, though.

What plot points bothered you? I’m usually very “nitpicky” about plots in movies and didn’t notice anything in Iron Man that was even remotely obvious or annoying. A plot hole is not the same as suspending belief. Believing that Superman can fly is one thing but that he can hold up half of an ocean liner by holding on to a steel beam that doesn’t bend or break is a plot hole.
I agree with FunkeePhil that this was probably the best superhero movie of all time. X2, Batman Begins = top 5. Superman Returns = excruciatingly boring.
I also agree with Howard Roark in the allure of a red headed Pepper Potts.

If we’re doing top 3 comic book movies for the decade, I’d go with Spiderman 2, Batman Begins and a tie between X2 and Iron Man. Actually, I’d give the edge to Iron Man b/c it’s just fun to watch.
For the record, I really hope they find someone else to do the score in the sequel, cuz whoever did it this time around really sucked. The inclusion of AC/DC and Black Sabbath was fine, but the rest was terrible…

Yeah, it’s really funny b/c I didn’t like Superman Returns the first time I saw it and thought it was really boring too like people are saying. I saw it again when they showed it on campus though and my opinion totally changed, I was very surprised. I think I’d have to see X2 again to decide if Iron Man was better though.

I’m going to be checking this out a bit later this evening. I really don’t care too much for comic book movies (except the last Batman), but I’m pretty stoked to check it out now.

im so glad the end sequence to the film has been put up on the news feed (everyone should check it out). i work at a cinema and this is one of my favourite parts (and i get to see it the most) when it kicks in with the awesome song and those sweet line diagrams of the suit. its wicked.

i wouldnt have enjoyed this movie as much as i did if it didnt have Downey jr. I havent seen a single role of his which wasnt instantly entertaining
ALH - 05.06.08 7:23 pm
Just saw the movie tonight
awesome movie

Iron Man was awesome, and without seeing the after-the-credits sequence I would not place it as high as Batman Begins, but once you see that scene I think it’s pure coolness rating goes up to maybe even the coolest superhero movie yet. Continuity tie-ins? COME ON! THATS SWEET! Not to mention Downey jr. is confirmed for Incredible Hulk, what more could you ask for?
Wyatt - 05.07.08 7:34 pm
I liked Tony Stark more than Iron Man in this movie, but it was good, for sure.
Tyrus - 05.08.08 12:31 am
I am sorry but Iron Man was WAY better then X-Men 2 or Batman Begins! BY FAR! This was the best super hero movie I have ever seen in my life. Xmen is kinda faggy compared to this. Batman and Iron man always tied as my fav superheroes. The Hulk movie just sucked ass and I never want to see it again, nor will I see #2. Spiderman is just a pussy now because they have Toby playing him, which was a big mistake! BIG MISTAKE!

I actually liked X3 better than X2 but in any case it superman returns belongs nowhere near best comic movie. IMO it´s Hellboy, Batman Begins, and one of the X-men movies, be it 2 or 3. Honorable mention to Spidey 2.

Xtreme Gamer - 05.12.08 9:44 am
Ahhh…Iron Man, what a fantastic movie!
Paul Gale - 05.13.08 6:46 pm
Batman Begins better than Iron Man? are you serious… I actually fell asleep watching that one… The only good parts were the ones with Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson… and this movie really makes Robert Downey Jr shine… not forgetting the is a playboy in real life too, lol…
ridgecity - 05.15.08 2:59 am
Superman Returns was as lame as those FF movies, I think Underdog was a better superhero movie than those 2… and the new Joker will be what carries the new movie just like Jack Nicholson did before…
