Free Comic Book Day 2008

Hey rebels! Just wanted to remind you guys about Free Comic Book Day tomorrow. Every year on the first Saturday in May, the comic book industry works hard to reward it’s current readers and hopefully attract new ones by giving away an assortment of free comics to anybody that will have them. Tomorrow’s event, marking the 7th annual Free Comic Book Day, will see titles like Hellboy, the X-Men, and Project Superpowers. Along with free comics, most comic book shops will also offer discounts on existing comics. So if you want to read up a little more about this summer’s comic book movies(Batman, Iron Man, and the Hulk), tomorrow would be a good time to grab a few books. So head down to your local comic book shop and get yourself your FREE comic!

Thank for the heads up, I haven’t pick up a comic in ages, but maybe I’ll pick one up tomorrow along with some Eye of Judgment cards.

Cool thing this year, the Hellboy issue features 3 completely new stories, by the teams responsiblee for BPRD, BPRD 1946, and the Hellboy miniseries. Definitely grab that if your a Hellboy fan.

I just started getting into comics somewhat recently, but I now love em, or am starting to. I went down my local comic place, picked up some free stuff, and a bunch of other comics and books, they were having a good sale. 20% off every small issue, and on all the graphics novels it was buy three get one free. They also had artist Joe Pekar there doing free drawings for people. Got me a sweet pic of Spidey.

I ended up getting to my comic shop pretty late, missing out on most everything. Luckily the small card shop I go to still had plenty. Although I did miss out on the Atomic Robo issue. I’m still bitter about that.

Free Comic Book Day is always cool, and one of the best books that came out this year, in my opinion, is All Star Superman #1. I’ve been a reader of this series since it first came out, but for those who never got into it, now sure is a good reason to.
