New GameCube Controllers for Japan
In what is an almost-but-not-completely-awesome move, Nintendo has announced that they will start making GameCube controllers again in Japan. Makes sense, Smash Bros and Mario Kart have both created huge demand for the old GCN controllers.
The only downside ““ these aren’t WaveBirds. No wireless for you! To make up for it, the cord has been extended to three meters (about a meter longer than the old GCN controller cords). Perhaps they lost the WaveBird mold after all?
Who knows, but this is still pretty cool news. These white GCN controllers will be released this month in Japan for 2000 yen (about twenty smackers). Hopefully, Nintendo will put a few of these out on our shores, too.
