Hasbro’s Mighty Muggs series of cutesy action figures may not reach Kubricks levels of coolness (what does?), but I think they’re a step in the right direction for American toys.
Revealed at Toy Fair 2008, the series’ take on Lando Calrissian has to be its crowning achievement thus far. As a huge fan of all things Lando, I find it’s rare that recreations of the character capture even an ounce of his irresitible charm, something this one has in spades. Don’t stare too long, the eyebrows will catch you in their tractor beam.
My toy-obsessed friend Kyung (this guy) sent the above pic to me in an email entitled ‘Best Toy Ever’, and now we’re dead bent on adding it to our collections once it’s released this May. Check out more Star Wars Mighty Muggs from the Toy Fair here.

Wow, the mighty muggs version of Luke looks intense.

Lando looks great, not to crazy about most of the other muggs.

Lando and the Grievous are fantastic. I think it’s the cape that really make it.
I have the Chewbacca and Boba Fett Mighty Muggs on my desk right now. They are fighting.

I already have Darth Vader (my favorite character) and was planning to wait for Yoda (my second favorite character) until I bought a new one, but that smile truly is irresistible.

I was reading IGN and saw that there were some for Marvel, and I noticed at least ones of Captain America and Thing.
They’re pretty sweet looking.

Oh nice, I’ll have to watch out for Captain America.

I bought my cousin Boba Fett. She loves it. Got it at Wal-Mart if anybody’s looking around. Near the Transformers in this store. Next is either Vader or Storm Troopers or Vader AND Storm Troopers. It’ll be the best 50 bucks I’ll ever spend maybe? I’ll juxtapose them to my Lego X-Wing and Tie Fighter.
Those are currently the ONLY pieces of Star Wars memorabilia I have, and that’s only because they are Lego that I bought them.

It looks like he’s trying to sell me some Colt 45 Malt Liquor. Works Every Timeā¢.
