Hilarious. In this ad for the Interactive Achievement Awards, Mario (or, a guy in a really good Mario suit) is seen running from an innocent bellhop who only wants to give him his dry cleaning. There’s no humor I love more than absurd humor, and this commercial gets everything right. 4cr’s Michael Tucker keenly observed: “People should do more videos with this Mario costume.” I concur. Full video after the break.

Gotta love Mario throwing the papers on the ground to slow down the guy.

LOL
Paul - 01.23.08 11:11 pm
Haha, that’s fantastic. The part where he throws the papers, too, is probably my favorite.

Mario… hotel… All i can think about is that horrendous red coin race in the Hotel Delfino in Super Mario Sunshine.
“Which one of these tiles flip? This one? awww Out of time again!” xD
Quackerdrill - 01.23.08 11:35 pm
Haha, great acting.
theONE - 01.23.08 11:39 pm
Lol! The jump over the papers is so unnecessary, and that’s why it’s awesome.
D~N - 01.23.08 11:49 pm
Pretty funny stuff.
Savage - 01.23.08 11:53 pm
17/10
TakaM - 01.24.08 12:12 am
HA! Funny stuff. Mario seems to be playing hard to get.
Marco - 01.24.08 12:21 am
That suit is great. I was expecting this horrible, fuzzy looking monstrosity… but this looks really close to the renders Nintendo has been using for so long. Very nice.
Tony - 01.24.08 12:22 am
Now that’s comedy!
phatalo - 01.24.08 1:02 am
I don’t know, I didn’t think it was that funny or really all that relevant to the topic of the commercial. I suppose I was thinking it was going to be Pun-ny or something.
Stuffed - 01.24.08 1:02 am
Bwa HA!
Sheer…unadulterated…genius.
I would be that Bellhop sir. Except I would be persuing Mario for autographs…though knowing me, I’d probably do Mario’s laundry too.
OOF - 01.24.08 2:17 am
Haha, that was pretty good. It really would have made more sense if Pac-Man was the character running away, and the bellhop’s uniform was bright red or something, but then again we wouldn’t have that awesome Mario costume if that were true.
Scypher - 01.24.08 3:14 am
Mr. Mario, Mr. Mario, Mr. Mario, Mr. Mario!
Best part.
Arcanis - 01.24.08 7:06 am
Anyone going to make a Hotel Mario reference?
…
Toasters!
jel - 01.24.08 9:05 am
So his last name really IS “Mario,” after all!
I think that video could you some Star power sound effects. But otherwise pretty damn funny.
Megashaun - 01.24.08 10:04 am
@MEGASHAUN
Well, he could just be also calling him by his first name since he doesn’t have a last name. Gotta be as formal as possible!
shorty1k - 01.24.08 2:33 pm
If you’ve seen the Super Mario Bros movie, you’d know their names are Mario Mario and Luigi Mario.
If you haven’t seen the Super Mario Bros movie, rent it immediately.
Plaidman - 01.24.08 3:16 pm
LOL! That is the funniest commercial i have ever seen! and what makes it even funnier is that it has Mario in it! Gotta give props to whomever put on that custome! Great acting! Way to go N Rumas! Know thats classic Nintendo Commercials!
DK428 - 01.24.08 4:25 pm
Silly, I like it!
jgoreham - 01.24.08 5:09 pm
Man that was great.
Every commercial with that giant Mario suit is awesome.
Lotan - 01.24.08 5:58 pm
I’m just so glad it wasn’t cliche at all. It seems that all the Mario skits online (with the exception of Mega64) are totally predictable.
Mike - 01.24.08 8:47 pm
Hahahahahahahahahaha, I don’t know why the papers/vase thing made me laugh so hard, but it did. Saw this and the McDonald’s “cha cha slide” commercial today- both excellent!
Namssorg - 01.24.08 11:58 pm
Nice! Made me crack a smile.
Thats right. You heard me.
Its a lot more classy than any dummy dumb G4 commercial you know.
ZaxCG2 - 01.25.08 8:09 am
It is a great Mario costume.
questworld - 01.25.08 9:59 am
@Plaidman
I saw it IN THEATERS. It was….alright, definetly not canonical.
shorty1k - 01.25.08 11:59 am
So…his first name is Super now?
