Yet another development in the Sam & Max coming to Wii saga. Austrian publisher JoWood has announced that it will be porting the series over, and while it looks like they spoke a little early — Telltale told Kotaku there was nothing official to report — it’s still good to hear.
In bigger news, Factor 5’s Julian Eggebrecht has confirmed to IGN that the developer has at least one all-new project in the works for Wii. As a fairly major fan, this news makes me very happy indeed. Matt Casamassina seems to think the project is not Pilotwings Wii — something the dev was evidently working on at one time — but I kinda hope he’s wrong.
Speaking of Factor 5, am I the only person who loves Battle for Naboo?

I liked that game.
Naboo Starfighter was awesome.

Awesome, so it’s official Sam and Max will be on the Wii. Can’t think of a better system for it.

I’m dying for a follow-up to Rebel Strike where we get to play the Battle of Hoth yet again!
Seriously.

After going back and playing Factor 5’s games, besides Super Turrican they really don’t have a good track record.
That said, they can do some AMAZING things with the graphics of the system, so it’ll be nice to see the Wii’s full potential.
And I don’t like Sam and Max.

I would like a Star Wars game for the Wii in which you play the Battle of Hoth from a probe droid’s point of view…

Factor 5 better bring its AAA game on. I would even say give them Star Fox to work on, they have experience with flight simulators and should know what will will and won’t work. I would not buy anything less than a Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3 caliber game from Factor 5. They now have a chance to redeem themselves after the Lair disaster and the period in time were they couldn’t say enough negative things about the Wii. Wasn’t Factor 5 the ones who came up with the tag-line “GameCube 1.5?”

If anyone gets to make Starfox, it should be Treasure. They are one of the FEW developers thats proved they can make a GOOD Starfox style game with Sin and Punishment.

Rogue Squadron (all ships…no on-foot stuff)…with MULTIPLAYER!! Correction…ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!!!

I don’t know why anyone cares about Factor 5 anymore. They’ve proven themselves incapable of doing anything except making the same game several times over and somehow they’ve managed to get even worse along the way.
After all the smug comments from Julian and then seeing yet another shoddy product from them (Lair — how every one on earth didn’t see that coming, I have no clue) the last thing I’m interested in is another Factor 5 game.
The last things I want them touching are Pilotwings or Star Fox. How much is it going to take for people to just start dismissing them for what they are? I feel like I’m from another planet lol.
Sam and Max is good news though. I have them on the computer and they’re quite good.

@Tony
I agree, except that I will say that the Rogue Squadron games ARE better than the GCN Starfox crap.
rbelmont - 01.15.08 4:03 pm
I liked the DS Starfox better than any previous version. The only problem I had with it was that there were no space battles.
Megashaun - 01.15.08 5:26 pm
Sam & Max for Wii is indeed great news. Might make me buy the game again. =) Assuming JoWood wont screw this up.
I have to admit that I haven’t really heard of Factor 5, haven’t played any of their games, and frankly (after looking them up) don’t even want to.

Wow, I was under the impression that Factor 5 was never going to work with Nintendo or any Nintendo-related products again - so this spells some good news. The Wii’s an interesting system. I think the industry is starting to realize that it isn’t a gimmick afterall. After having the Wii for almost a year now, there’s no convincing me it’s a gimmick - it’s absolutely 100% legit.
Video Game Nerd (Matt) - 01.15.08 6:06 pm
I can’t say that I’m surprised about Factor 5 working on the Wii.
This is a good thing, because they’re one of the few developers who will be able to make the Wii produce some impressive visuals and hopefully further raise the bar for production value in Wii games.

Rogue Squadron 3 already had a multiplayer version of Rogue Squadron 2 (the ENTIRE game!). I think Battle for Naboo WAS Factor 5, but Star Wars Starfighter WAS NOT!
It’s my high horse. Want a go? Neeeiiiiggghhhh.
wii_too2 - 01.15.08 8:43 pm
Matt has said he knows what game they are working on and that it is big. He said he phoned a company up and told them he could post it as a rumor and, two days later, this showed up. He knows what it is so I don’t think it’s Pilotwings.
OMFG - 01.15.08 9:34 pm
If it’s going to simply be another Rogue Squadron game, then I hope there’s an online mode where at least 16 players can a battle together as a team in an online campaign mode.
questworld - 01.16.08 12:02 am
I couldn’t care less about Factor 5 coming back. I played Rouge Squadron, and didn’t like it. Lair’s press doesn’t help my opinion of them much, either.
Now Sam & Max, on the other hand…I never played the original games from Lucas Arts, but I’ve heard these new games are pretty good and full of laughs. I’ll be keeping my eye out for it.
Blue_Falcon - 01.16.08 2:49 am
Damnit… Why can’t we get a Pilotwings Wii? *so sad*
jd - 01.16.08 4:07 am
right on shaun, star fox command rocks. i love that game.

I am glad to see Factor 5 return. It seems like a lot of companies make better
games when partnered with Nintendo for some reason. SiliconKnights, Rare and Factor 5
all being good examples of this strange phenomena…
realstar - 01.16.08 2:36 pm
I wouldn’t agree about SK. The first Kain game was great, they had another PC game that was surprisingly good (albeit largely unknown). They’ve not even released a title since their Nintendo work… Basically, they haven’t seemed to change at all through all of that in my opinion.
Plus Rare released a LOT of crap for Nintendo in the last few years as well. Since then, Grabbed by the Ghoulies I would say is underrated, Jetpac on XBLA is quite fun and Viva Pinata was amazing. PDZ is rushed, so I can’t say much positive about that.
I don’t really think either of them were any better under the partnership in the long run. They just had more exposure. We’ll see how Too Human and whatever Rare is doing (Banjo?) turn out.
Tony - 01.16.08 2:43 pm
It looks like Factor 5 will be taking on Kid Icarus
