Nintendo of Japan has released three awesome Mario Galaxy wallpapers, two of which feature the game’s initial and final boxart, and the other of which, previewed above, is a never-before-seen illustration sure to make you smile. Check out the full image after the break, and click here to download the wallpapers at the official site.
As far as the new picture goes, it’s far busier visual than the other two, and I think everyone will agree that it’s super cool. Though no actual planet is present, I really like how the shape of a planet is suggested by the cluster of enemies behind Mario.
Overall, I still prefer the final boxart, but this would have been a great choice, too…

What do you think?

That is pretty awesome.
I love this game so much. It’s amazing how even up to the ‘last’ level (well, level you need to beat to see the ending) they were throwing new concepts and twists at me.

Great game but this boxart looks noticeably less happy. Probably why the current one was picked

So my new wallpaper.

That’s awesome! It’s too full of boss spoilers for a cover though - I’m glad to see it now that I’ve met them all.

Any hidden messages?

Wow, that’s some real Star Wars shit right there.
Which is a good thing. NO. Awesome.

I think this more a concept for a poster than for a boxart. Normal boxarts for anything have the main character(s) as the main focus and or the antagonist with a few little references for the game but mewant not to look cluttered.. A poster is more meant to make people look at it and really take it in more artistically.

Where would the title go?

Well… While it doesn’t say casual, it does say garbacious.

Right on DGM. The logo is to the right of the image (check out the full on that there link above).
Are those the moles from smw!? If so im not playing this because they creeped me out the first time. I lost far too many yoshis that way. Who else thinks they should do a hyper realistic yoshi for smash? jk

I find it odd that you prefer the original box art to this image, considering how much a fan you were of the japanese box arts. This image is pretty consistent with that exploding with colors and artwork “busy-ness” charm of the others. I enjoy it thoroughly and outside of it lacking room for a title logo it would have been a much better box art

That’s a lot of emphasis on Dino Piranha, who appears during one of the first stars and never again. On a sidenote, I really hope he doesn’t get the same recurring attention that Petey got.

It’s a damn cool image, but I think it’s just way too much for cover art. Anywhere they put the logo would essentially kill it lol.

Quite good, though I still wish they’d get rid of Bowser Junior and bring back the Kooper Kids!
Bainick - 11.23.07 6:44 pm
I don’t think it would’ve made a good choice. As a poster it would be great though.

thank you, banick

This image is greate I’ll probobly get it printed so I can have it on the wall.
Bainick: We have allready smashed the Koopa kids twice Bowser Jr is the only one he has left, sad if you think about it.
Maybe if there comes a new Mario game set before Super Mario bros 3 and Super Mario World where we meet them or if there all in training for Mario’s big nemesis Adventure.
I can’t recal the pig like character behinde Kamek on the right, who is that?

I dunno, this seems pretty close to the JPN Super Mario World box art. I don’t own the game, so maybe I haven’t grown to love the official art enough, but I’d prefer this one.
I’m now like, “Damn, I want to fight these guys.”

That rock monster on the left of Bowser looks very similar to this Digimon…

@ kenny: It’s the octopus from the lava place…I think he was named King kaliente… He was at the E3 06 demo
NS_Titan - 11.26.07 11:10 am
NS_Titan: But King Kaliente is on the left why would the put him there twice??
Damn I think I need to play thru it again just to satisfy my curiosity… maybe trie the 120stars bonus
Kenny - 11.26.07 11:32 am
It made go (under my breathe) “wooow”
