I went out a few days ago in hopes of finding a US copy of Mario Galaxy here in Korea, and though I didn’t have any luck, my search was not entirely in vain — I found Zack & Wiki.
We’ve all heard this countless times before, but I have to reiterate it: Zack & Wiki is phenomenal in every way. It’s so good, in fact, that I’ve virtually stopped thinking about how much I want Super Mario Galaxy. For me, that’s nothing short of amazing.
Remember what it was like to go to a really cool funhouse — the kind that made you momentarily forget you were in the real world — as a kid? That’s what Zack & Wiki is like. Every element of the game exudes pure quality, and it’s obvious that the designers at Capcom really went all-out to make the experience the best it could be.
Perhaps most importantly, the title is proof positive that the point-and-click genre doesn’t have to remain a thing of the past. On that note, I get weak in the knees at the thought of Wii-makes of Lucasarts classics in the Z&W mold; here’s hoping the right people take notice.
You’re probably consumed by Mario Galaxy at present, but do yourself a favor and pick up Zack & Wiki if you haven’t already. It’s just about the coolest thing ever.

Most importantly, think of how much greater this game could get!
I really feel like Z&W is just scratching on the surface yet, and is doing it oh so splendidly, and I can“t wait for a sequel!

The Wii has had a lot of good games. Z&W is one of those games that reveals the genius in the Wii’s design. I really hope it gets out to more people. It’s a game everyone can enjoy, very polished and the puzzles are classic. Capcom, we eagerly await a sequel. It shows that point-and-click can still be done in a way that makes it just as fun to play as any big budget mega title that comes out today.

Awesomeness in a small CD-like substance. I love how this game…anything. Yes, how this game anything.
Travis - 11.18.07 6:00 pm
This game is like the next generation of Monkey Island.. in some ways.
It’s an amazing achievement that’s is just about perfect. I feel that there could have been more items and gadgets to use though… anyone who play this game actually know what the “worm straw” is for? other than just turning it back into a worm to use?
The thought of Wiki is the amazing and fun hooking part. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want a magical golden bell that turns centipedes into saws or turns frogs into bombs
Captain Rose and her goons remind me of bowser and koopas in a way. I absolutely love them for that reason.
I don’t know why, but this game is like a really big allusion to various characters from different games turned into a giant puzzle.
I LOVE the puzzles in this game. They’re ALL creative in their design and in the way you carry things out. Who know that making icicle keys could be fun? or fighting yourself in a mirror could be so confusing
Captain Barbaros makes one heck of a fun last villain! and the last puzzle of the game is indeed very hard.
I can’t help but feel this game reminds me of Monkey Island though. Man that was a fun game.

This may be on-par with my experience playing UR MR GAY. Fascinating game, and it’ definately in my Wii top 3.
BudDud - 11.18.07 7:41 pm
I was working my way through the last puzzle until Mario showed up! This is definitely a must have. My favorite part is collecting the concept art.

Am I the only one who found this utter shit? Played it at a friends place and wanted to smash the TV whenever I heard that assrotating chipmunk make Teletubbies noises.
siro - 11.18.07 8:34 pm
I think so, SIRO. You’re probably WAY cooler than all of us too.
I’m having a blast with this game.
Namssorg - 11.18.07 8:49 pm
assrotating monkeys are cool!
when was the last time you saw an assrotating monkey turn a boar into a hammer?
anyways, people like this game for the puzzles and the ingenuity and creativity of the game itself. If you can see past the characters and look at the gameplay, then you’ll see why people love Zack and Wiki. If that gameplay wasn’t there, then this’d be another Ratchet and Clank or Jack and Daxter… uggg…

Yeah Siro, I think you’re alone on this one. But don’t worry. There’s always Halo 3.
I’ll be honest with you, I’m not particularly excited about Mario Galaxy. No. I played it and while I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I don’t really mind waiting on it (Smash bros on the other hand is a different matter). Anyway, fortuantly, Z&W is unadultered, pure insane genius. And I love. I found the last two levels somewhat frustrating, but the rest of the time the game was challanging, but never infurating. In fact, just the opposite.
SO yes, for those not currently enthralled in Mario’s latest exploits, do yourself a favor and GET Zack and Wiki. It’s insanely awesome.
OOF - 11.19.07 12:33 am
hey for what it’s worth, i think Zack & Wiki are actually really cool characters. Much cooler than R&C/J&D anyway. Wiki’s a little annoying, but Zack is awesome.
N Rumas - 11.19.07 12:35 am
Mmm, Zack & Wiki. Sure, there are no exploding heads, no long-winded voice acting that doesn’t add to the game, and no magical-crystal-macguffin-hunting. But you know what there is? There’s whack-a-moleing. And there’s fireball tennis. And dragon cuddling. Oh yes, there is dragon cuddling.
Crotch - 11.19.07 1:04 am
I’m nearing the end of the game and I have to say, I really love it except for two things that I’ve found; the tennis stuff and the sword fighting. I couldn’t tell you how many platinum tix i wasted (well, I guess I can, 3) trying to beat a guy sword fighting before giving up in disgust. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great game, it is just those “action” elements that got me steamed over it. I was much happier with all the random puzzles that took forever to figure out!

I bought it 3 days ago from Amazon. I used the free shipping so I won’t get it for about a week or so. Doesn’t matter anyway because nothing else gets played until I have 120 stars.
silkylove - 11.19.07 3:51 am
Just for clarification: I can honestly say that adventures are my fav genre and that I wouldn’t even try Halo 3.
Maybe Z&W gets better when the tutorial-esque part ends and you mute the heli-ape. Considering the universal acclaim, I’ll prolly try it (if I ever get a Wii).
siro - 11.19.07 5:30 am
I just went to buy this on amazon but it isnt released in the uk till the end of january, and its more like $65 over here instead of $40.
Bummer
Toddjamin - 11.19.07 11:23 am
Why is there only one copy left to the side in the local Gamestop I went to? and why is it only $40 on the shelves after the 1st few weeks it has been out? Are adventure games truly dead?
Damn the senseless games that incorporate the easy selling violence. Ruining the genre that brought Monkey Island and King’s Quest. When will these idiots realize that graphics don’t make a good game? I’m sick of cinematic scenes being the commercial for a game and then have it be sold. Play beyond my ass. You wanna play beyond? Go tranquilize yourself in front of a tv screen the rest of you life and believe it is the real world. … Sorry, that became a rant. But seriously, buy the game. I’m going to
ROGY - 11.19.07 9:08 pm
Yeah, I hated that dragon cuddling. Constant attention or it screams and you die. x_x
BudDud - 11.19.07 10:37 pm
Sorry but this game sucks.
Lotan - 11.19.07 11:00 pm
Siro: I know, I was just giving you some teasing. I’d say give it another try. If you still don’t like it, then I suppose that’s cool. …Even if you’re wrong.
Lotan: Sorry but you’re wrong.
OOF - 11.20.07 3:42 am
Rogy: It was released at $40, so it’s a great title for a great price. And GS’s didn’t get tons of copies either… BB usually has alot.
I’m loving this game too
Playing it over SMG, on the Treasure Island level right now.
