Don’t get too excited just yet, they don’t sound as mind-blowingly awesome as the Everybody Votes Channel. Speaking of the EVC, I’ve racked up nearly twenty hours on it this month alone voicing my opinion via the clever drag-n-drop Mii voting system and waiting in suspense for new questions to pop up. It just never gets old. Do you prefer dogs or cats?
Moving on, we’re getting a new channel this December by means of which we’ll be able to buy stuff — VC games, Wii Ware — for registered friends. Sounds quite nice, actually, and it’s definitely a good way to show others you care. Or that you’re madly obsessed with them. And on that note, I know where my virtual love’s gonna be directed this winter…
The second new channel sounds like a real snoozer indeed — a TV schedule channel. I’m not so good with words, so I’ll let the translation that appeared on NeoGAF do the talking instead. Word for word cause I don’t mess with sweet poetry:
“Another one is “TV program schedule channel (temporary). “It becomes a channel to which the television program schedule that uses G guide is delivered in cooperation with the interactive program guide. “It is thought that operativeness and unique not defeated at any digital device that seems to look for an interesting program for the time being with Wii are necessary. ” (Iwata). It seems to be Nintendo, and it seems to become happy though there is a disadvantageous part that it is not possible to record as it is, too in there are play. Here is an appearance schedule in the spring of 2008.”
Yes, too in there are definitely play.

The gift option is pretty cool. It’s nice to see stuff like that.

I don’t think that first one is a channel, as much as it is a new feature of the Shop Channel.

a Tv guide?…wow..because like, most set top boxes dont do that anyways…
Theres no way of enabling the wii to actually stream real TV without an add on, right? I dont want to have to buy a TV liscence because my wii all of a sudden becomes capable of picking up some kind of crazy voodoo internet TV D:

TV license?
Anyway, while they do sound a bit boring, the more the merrier. The TV Guide channel could be nice if its easy to use, because I know a lot of the built in guides are a bit hard to just scroll though the upcoming schedule of a station for the next week.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz
why even bother releasing these
the first could just be incorporated as an update for the wii shop channel (an option is much less space consuming then an entire damn channel for it)
the second is completely irrelevant. Who the hell is going to turn on their wii to see what’s playing on their television?

TV licenses are a UK/European thing. Public broadcasting is funded by taxes instead of just advertising, by way of the people who watch TV paying for a TV license.

The gift option is a great addition for websites.
Can we say VC titles as contest prizes?
Edgar - 10.26.07 5:54 pm
Er, you can watch lots of TV if you have the Internet Channel, at least until the rest of the streaming video sites in the world move to Flash 9. But I guess the same thing applies to any modern PC, and I assume you don’t need a licence for those.
raindog - 10.26.07 5:57 pm
Actually, I would use an interactive TV Guide channel. I’m sure I’m not the *only* one.

I sincerely hope you are kidding.

Where’s Check Mii Out??

I too, must confess in being an Everybody Votes Channel lover. Maybe we should start a group?
Its, I dunno, just neat and addictive in a horoscope kind of way. Or something?
Anastazius - 10.27.07 5:39 pm
Yeah, I was too busy being a know-it-all to mention that my best friend and I fire up Everybody Votes once a week, do all the available polls and check all the results. It’s pretty shallow but it’s a good 15 or 20 minutes a month of “free” entertainment.
raindog - 10.28.07 10:30 am
hehe…i was kinda kidding about the everybody votes channel
but since you guys seem to like it, i’ll give it another go.

actualy a tv guide channel is a great idea due to the fact that the regular tv guide channal is a pain in the ass. first you wait 5 minutes than something distarcts you and you miss the time for your show you wait 5 more minutes. etc
