Hello Player 1
Ok rebels. Here is the third episode of the 4 color rebellion/powet.tv mega-production, Famicom Dojo! I know I hadn’t had much on-screen time in the first two episodes so I am looking to correct that with this Vinnk-heavy installment. Keep in mind that I bring my own “unique” touch to the show. Still I hope you like it.
This episode exposes the real truth about the American origins of Nintendo that Japan has been covering up for years. It features original art by 4cr’s own Mitch and more of those wacky talking consoles.
So please give it a view and tell us what you think. Also if there is something you would love us to do a show about, feel free to suggest it. Enjoy!

So funny! We want more Viink. Just wish there you explored the real NES history though.
For your next episode can you explain the Nintendo Playstation. Everyone has the knee-jerk reaction that Nintendo was entirely at fault. Sony’s contract would have made them own Mario and Nintendo games. NOT COOL!

Heh, pretty funny.

MITCH IS MY HERO!

Tremendous. Not nearly as informative as previous episodes, but very funny still. HVNLYSOLDR’s idea for the next episode sounds great too.

I normally wouldn’t comment, but I want to stop any runaway speculation: we do plan on covering the Nintendo/Sony split at some point in the future, but we’re going to work forward through time to make sure we have the proper context in which to frame exactly what happened. We have a few other systems, peripherals, and other history to get through first. So, will we cover it? Absolutely. Will it be this “season”? Probably not.
Do I only ask questions to which I know the answers? Apparently.
I’m turning into Reggie Fils-Aime!

vinnk and mitch, you’re awesome

I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. The third one? …Not so much (sorry). The cartoons were awesome though. I hope future installments are as fasacinating and informative as the first 2. I’d always wondered what the hell the famicom looked like and now I know, but I require more input!

Awesome work guys. But yeah, like people have said above, I hope it strays back into actual Nintendo history.
Volt on August 28, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Sorry guys, but I must concur with the previous commenters hoping for more _actual_ history. This episode was pretty good though, and it did fit with the theme of Nintendo history, I know.
As a fairly big Metroid fan, I do have a question though: In an interview, I recall composer “Hip” Tanaka saying that the Disk System’s extra voice of polyphony made the FDS version of Metroid sound “much better” than the NES version. Not to doubt the great Tanaka’s words, but can you confirm this? It might be too much work to do an exhaustive comparison, but anything would be much appreciated.

Episodes 1 and 2 were much better. They taught me things. And the 2nd one had Vinnk humping a NeoGeo (which I knew I had to see again). This one was just off course, random, and Vinnk wasn’t hot. Nice goomba tshirt though.

I didn’t care for this. Not at all. The previous episodes were better, I feel. Far more informative and interesting. This was just some random Internet video, pretty much.

Sorry you all feel this way. We knew we were taking a risk with this episode. We will take all your comments into consideration. Sorry to those of you who hated it, we were not trying to waste your time. Really.

hehe dosn’t…

To Vinnk, I can’t speak for everyone, but I certainly din’t “hate” episode 3. It was entertaining. Its just that after getting so much surprisingly good information in the first 2 parts, I guess I’d started to expect that sort of thing to continue instead of the show veering more into the realm of pure comedy. But I’m sure you’ll get back to covering the meaty history of all things nintendo so I’m not worried. And hey, let’s not forget that you’re giving us all something for free here!

Famicom Dojo is an ASSCHON series focusing on ashual history of nintendo. So here’s a giant enemy goomba…
hvnlysoldr on August 29, 2007 at 10:19 am
@PICC and then you jump on his weak spot for massive damage.
I guess I jumped the gun asking for Sony. How about some of the lawsuits that established Nintendo like Universal and Tetris.
I liked the episode and it was downright funny especially with Mitch’s drawings; it’s just I guess fans wanted actual history. I recommend giving a little more balance. Give us the detailed history with a little humor and then give us a skit with Granpappy.
SeanOrange on August 29, 2007 at 10:24 am
That was the original plan. Clearly it would have been a good one!
kiddkalen on August 29, 2007 at 10:57 am
I hope you guys don’t let all the negative reviews here discourage you. These guys were only disappointed in the 3rd episode because the first two were so great and unique. Keep up the good work, please.

Excellent episode! Great new ideas! Keep at it and it’ll get more polished with time. My only worry is that you guys limit yourself to the Famicom. You could keep the Famicom theme but maybe you should consider branching out to other systems.. and maybe even arcade? There’s a lot of video game history out there, some of which is even connected to the famicom. Anyways, keep up the good work!
Jonathan (of the Japan Journal) on August 31, 2007 at 10:03 pm
Yeah, we’re not mad or anything.
This episode was a miss but the series still has a lot of potential. But there are an endless number of Internet videos vying for everyone’s attention, so perhaps it would be good to think of terms how to garner some of that. The informative wit of the first two videos is a winner for you, so take that formula, refine it, and run with it, I say!
